I'd like feedback about honeymooning in Puerto Rico.

Hi all. My FH and I will be taking a SHORT honeymoon right after the wedding (and then will be taking a longer one when I have the week off in April). We will be leaving for the honeymoon on a Monday morning and coming back as late as possible Wednesday night.

Siince the trip is so short we want to make the most of it. When I went to the travel agent yesterday Puerto Rico came up as a very viable option. It sounds good.

Now, here's where I need your feedback. My FH has heard that Puerto Rico is not really a safe place. If that is true, I don't want to go. That said, I'm wondering if that is true. My FH said he heard this years ago, so it may no longer be true.

What do you know about Puerto Rico? Has anyone been there? What can you say about it?

I went to PR a few years ago and had NO safety concerns.. everyone was so friendly and acommodating!! as a matter of fact we are taking a cruise out of San Juan for the honeymoon so we'll be staying in PR for 3 or 4 night before our cruise. Make the most of your short stay DEFINITELY get to the Rain Forest & El Moro (Fort) -- if you are big drinkers, the Bacardi Factory might be of interest!! You will LOVE PR...trust me!!

I went a few years ago with my brother. LOVED IT! Like any place there are areas that should be avoided but I wouldn't use it as a reason not to go. You must check out the bioluminescent bay.

PR is wonderful! The people are friendly and helpful. Anywhere you go you have to be careful...But i feel PR is one of the safest places. Especially in San Juan. I used to go almost every year...i have fam in the mountains...but only recently i have been going like every 2 yrs...and i usually stay in San Juan.

Def check out the el yungue (the rain fores) and old juan is beautiful!

I have only recently heard of bioluminescent bays. But i heard it was an amazing nightime excursion.

HTH...i love PR...

My parents have gone there three times. They said that there are some 'shady places', but it's fine during the day. It's just like any island (or country)...There are always going to be bad areas. When you book your hotel, they will tell you which places to avoid.

I just recently visited Puerto Rico but we stayed on the resort only bc it does have some shady areas. We stayed at the Conqiustador which was beautiful. The rooms were modern and there was alot to do there. There were plenty of pools, restaurants, and a spa. It was lacking a little bit when it came the the nitelife. However, there was one club that was pretty packed when we went one night. The restaurants are expensive BUT you def get what you pay for...the food was delicious. There is also a boat ride of ten minutes that takes you over to a private beach. I would def recommend for a short relaxing trip. The flight was a little long bc we had a layover so I would suggest a nonstop flight so you dont lose any time.

HTH!

PS I spent 400 dollars there for about three nights on food and drinks. I went with girlfriends so that was just the cost for me just to give you an idea of price at thia particular resort.
