I'd never thought i needed to be one to vent

Alright, I guess its my turn!! I got a call today from a friend who broke the news that one of her friends is getting married the same day as me. But the twist is that she is having her wedding reception at the same place as me!! My God, the coincidences!! and practically at the same time!!! How is that possilbe. I actually know her friend through my friend but not really well. So I guess we are acquaintances. But the fact that I may know people at her party and will possibly be running into them annoys me. I guess I shouldnt be catty but its kinda like having to share your special day.

Would you feel the same way?

Yea, I would- I'm sorry. that is why I booked a place with only one wedding at a time- I'm a spotlight hog!

I would feel the same way as you also; but when it comes down to it, you'll probably be too busy having a great time at your own wedding and you won't really care who is at the other party.

yea, something similar sorta almost happened to me and yes you have every right to feel that way! but your day will be special no matter what. it s-ucks to find out about this, but give it a few days and i'm sure you'll realize it is not worth getting yourself stressed over!

Yep.. id be bummed.
Sorry!

Just remember it's 'your' day.. you have your FH and your own set of people that will be exclusively yours.

on the bright side, at least you didn't find out that some girl that you can't stand is having her wedding at the same place at the same time!

It's your day, and no one can outshine you. Are guests from the other wedding able to even interact with yours? (I know some places you never even know there are other weddings going on)

I hope that my guests will not run into theirs. The only issue I have now is that I will know a hand full of people at their wedding. Whom will not be invited to mine. I'm worried they will crash our party since their party finishes about an hour earlier than mine. Now I got to set up bouncers and talk to the banquet manager of making sure the two parties are completely separate. I doubt that my guests will run into them since we have two sets of bathrooms. I just hope they wont think they have the liberty of stopping in on my wedding once the other wedding is over. My FH thinks I'm being too catty and says what reason do I have to think they will in anyway be interested in my wedding. My ultimate nightmare would be for the bride who is also an acquintance of mine to walk into my reception with her white dress on. I think Iwould just drop dead. What a NIGHTMARE!!

If the other wedding was for someone who I didn't know at all and that no one there woudl have been invited to my wedding, I wouldn't be upset. After all, there are going to be weddings on my day - I'm bound to run into another wedding party somewhere - before mine at Church (guaranteed that will happen, I know there's a weddding before mine), or where we take pictures. Maybe even my hall, but I doubt it.

But if it was an acquaintence and I had to have friends choose between my wedding and hers and what if they jumped from reception to reception, that would tick me off.

Try not to let it worry your special day though!

ETA: as for people trying to crash your wedding, I wouldn't mind if they just came in to congratulate me and maybe say hi to some friends and go. But I don't want them trying to get more alcohol at my wedding. It's putting an imposition on my guests. I don't know if I would put bouncers at the door, maybe there's another exit that the banquet managers can lead the other guests at the other wedding out of that is not near your reception?

Try not to be sad about it. When your day finally comes you are going to be so overwhelmed with happiness, that it won't matter...I promise!

Thanks girls for your support.

This has definitely put a whole spin on everything. I am actually going to call the banquet manager to discuss bouncers. Since my wedding will be an hour longer than the other wedding I'm afraid that there will be reception jumping and I will definitely not allow this to happen!!

How will the bouncers know your guests from the others? I'd be worried about your guests getting hassled returning if they go to the bathroom or for a smoke.

i think you have a right to feel disappointed!!! every girl should have her OWN day in the spot light. sharing a day s**ks but sharing the hall !! you have to remember though, to everyone who is there for you and your FH, you'll be the only star of the day!!

As for bouncers, it will be difficult. I guess I'm at the point where I should just say 'c'est la vie' - Such as life. I think I'm over it now and I'll just roll with the punches. I'm gonna make the best of it. And you girls are right... I'll probably be too busy to care.

I wuold certainly be upset. But at this point all you can do is focus on your special day. It's your day -and forget about anyone else. Keep saying that over and over again!
