IDEAS PLEASE! What do you bring (as a gift/hospital) to someone who just had a heart attack?
We're going to visit my cousin in the hospital, probably tonite. Incase you didnt read my post yesterday. He went to the ER yesterday and they told him he had had a heart attack
I know eating healthy is MAJOR after a heart attack, so I have NO IDEA what we'd bring him? Everything I think of is either sweets or junk food.. Cant bring a guy flowers..
Ideas ???????
**SORRY TO DRIVE YOU ALL NUTS** I posted another post, he DIDNT have a heart attack after all, thank goodness.

Some magazines or a book?
PJ's, slippers or socks so he's more comfortable?
Deck of cards to play solataire or one of those hand held electronic games (not sure about that last one though - I would check with the hospital to make sure it won't interfere with the monitors in his room.)

Christine stole all of my ideas!!!
A friend of ours was in the hospital for awhile (not a heart attack) and she said the best thing she got was books/magazines becuase there was only so much TV she could watch!

ohhh, the magazine is a great idea (Hes VERY Handy around the house, but he's gonna have to pull the brakes on how much work he does, and I wonder if it will depress him (a Handyman magazine) ) PJ's are a good idea too. Keep em coming gals!

What about a huge book of NY Times Crossword puzzles? That should keep him busy, if he gets bored with TV.
Or, how 'bout a novel - does he like to read?
Slippers is a good one, too...your feet can get pretty cold on the hospital floor!

Definitely slippers. Also maybe those minuture games like the travel kind, tictactoe, etc. . .

Everyone pretty much said what I was thinking but here's some more -
any travel size game (checkers, connect four) maybe toiletries(shaving cream, etc, if he's allowed to move around) Madlibs or those puzzle books with the magic pen.

Definately something to read or do while in bed. A bunch of magazines or something that he can just flip through.

They sell cheap electronic games in the supermarket, Kmart, etc.. Those are always fun.
And like everybody else said: magazines, crossword puzzle books, etc..

No balloons!!! Because of the helium - he probably is on oxygen and they won't allow it.
Flowers - trust me after a few days they start to stink from the greenery. Ick.
Newspapers and magazines (Car mags the best and electronic ones too) are good.
I can't think of anything else. So much easier for a woman. When I was in the hosp people brought me lotions, nail polish, perfume.. I was the best smelling patient they had
