I have this question book.. book of ifs...anyone want to play?
If you could ensure your child has one experience that you have had yourself, what would it be?
I would say, that they be as close to their family..aunts, cousins, siblings as I am. To realize that family is the number one thing and to cherish each other.

Re: If....
I have to agree with what you said... I grew up so close to my family..and I realize how important that is..I hope my children get to feel the comfort of that!

Re: If....
I lost my father at a young age. And this caused me to question God a lot. I did not have a real love or understanding of the reason of God. So I would want my children to experience the Love of God as soon a possible.

Re: If....
My answer would be much less spiritual, though I wish that weren't the case. There are many experiences I have had that you are better off having when you are younger and still within the 'umbrella' of your family. Thankfully, I've experienced a lot, and none of it has negatively affected me in the long run, but I think if I could do anything for my children, I would do what my parents did for me . . . shelter them from bad experiences but teach them that they exist, they happen, the are unavoidable, and teach them how to handle them.
This may sound harsh, but many people shelter their children from death . . . like my FH who has been to no funerals, but one. I don't think death is something we need or should shield our children from. At 31, he is still uncomfortable at a funeral. I don't want my children to fear death. It has a great affect on how one lives their life.
But I WILL take them to Disney World by the age of 10!!!

Re: If....
my daughter comes from a very loving giving home . that was very important for me. we are strict to a point (FH tends to go drill sgt on her sometimes) but also let her as well as any other children we may have along the way that they are our world. There is nothing else more important to us than their health and happiness
i love my daughter so much hopefully someday soon we will be adding to our little family

Re: If....
To experience & cherish the love of family & real friends & to always remember that is teh most important thing.
Oh yea, and if possible experience traveling the world. As I have not been everywhere yet (FH pretty much has) the places i have been make you really appreciate this wonderful world we live in. The beauty & the differences in cuture. Its amazing!

Re: If....
Leaving home and experiencing living on your own. I truly believe I am a better person for going and living away from my family in other cities after college. It made me very independent and I know no matter what I can make it.

Re: If....
I would want them to feel about me the way I feel about my Mother. She is a hero to me. A woman who defines courage and excellence. I pray one day a child feels for me the way I feel for her. I would also love for them to go skydiving like I did. I would love for them to feel about their siblings the way I feel about my sister, that God gave me a best friend in my sibling. I would want them to stand on the stage at Carnegie Hall and sing, as I did. I would want them to find God in everything they do, everything that surrounds them, and everything that happens to them. And to do their best to remain close to God throughout their lives. This is my prayer for my children.
