If a woman keeps her maiden name is she Mrs. or Ms.?

I am working on my place cards and came across the following question.

Jane Doe married John Smith and kept her maiden name.

Should their seating card read:

Mrs. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith

or

Ms. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith

I had thought Mrs. since she's married, but my highly intelligent FMIL said that she isn't Mrs. Doe so that would be incorrect. I'm sure shes right (she is very good with this sort of thing), I'm just curious what other people think...

I had the same question when addressing my invites so i called her and asked. she said to use ms. and not mrs. (the mrs. is her mom).

According to a wedding planner I just got in the mail-- she should be Ms.
