why can't you get them on friday?
it depends on so many things, really...but if you can get them later, that would probably be better.

They might but I would wait until Thursday night so they look great through the weekend. If you do buy them today make sure it is not too humid in the room you are putting them in and change the water, but I would wait until later this week.

Ive found that flowers from Proflowers.com really last a long time. They are kind of expensive, though. I usually get them as gifts for other people

Proflowers are awesome .. I've never found them expensive for flowers .. you can always find a deal with them .. 1 dozen roses for $29.99 with a free vase .. and sometimes 1 1/2 dozen for $34.99.

And those flowers last a long, long, long time. It is the only place we will order flowers from.

Just wanted to add:

When ordering roses (and many other types) from Proflowers .. they actually look better about 2 days after arrival .. so that might work perfectly for you.

Proflowers sends the flowers fresh from the grower, and when the roses arrive .. they are closed tight .. over the first day or so .. they gradually open to big, huge blooms .. so they look best after a couple of days.

If you do order from Proflowers .. make sure to trim the stems before setting up the arrangement.

Here's a deal for 2 dozen assorted roses plus a vase for $39.97 (also comes in red):

2 dozen + vase

or 1 1/2 dozen + vase for $29.98:

1 1/2 dozen + vase

sunflowers + vase $29.99

If you DO decide to get them early, cut the stems when you get home & put them in water right away. Keep them in the fridge. That will help them last a bit. I just had to do that, it worked (for roses), but it was just for overnight.
It also depends on the flowers.

If you can wait do...if not, yes cut the stems with a knife, not scissor(scissors crushes) and leave at room temp water for a couple hours. Then store in a cool place (even basement or garage. Try not to put in refrigerator with fruit especially apples. It cuts the life of the flowers.
