If I don't care about a cake cutter, do I really need to get one?
Can I just use a cake cutter / server from the hall? Is this really a big deal?
Or is it a cake cutter I will use for all future birthday cakes, etc?

personally, i think it's a waste of money, but to many people it's very sentimental. i think it's up to you! we're getting ours from the reception hall.

I was just going to use what the hall had but then my FMIL really wanted to get it for us so now we'll have one. But that's the only reason why.

I didn't have one. The hall provided a knife to cut the cake and a server to 'scoop' it onto the plate. I didn't see the need for them and I don't regret not getting them.

We actually didn't use the nice cake cutter we got, we used another cheaper one that I got for my shower but I think the one the hall provides is totally fine!

ALL-RIGHT! Yay!! I'm so happy other people feel this way and I don't have to worry about this.

wow i thought all brides got 1! Never even noticed them though..im sure many ppl use 1 from the hall! We got ours from my sister...its a whole matching set, frames and all. I wanted it that way but i agree why spend 30 or 40$ on that...that ash can go to something else that you really do need!! i wanted 1 just so i can display it along w/ my toasting flutes!

Yeah, I'm definitely trying not to go crazy on those types of things. My FSIL happened to get us the toasting flutes as an engagement gift.......but otherwise, these types of things are not my focus.
Now, finding the perfect necklace to compliment my dress and tiara........that I admit I'm obsessing over. hahahaa!

I agree. There are lot of things that I believe aren't such a big deal. I'm using a sword to cut my cake, but if we weren't doing a theme I would most like just borrow one for the cater company or my inlaws.
