If I don't care about a cake cutter, do I really need to get one?

Can I just use a cake cutter / server from the hall? Is this really a big deal?

Or is it a cake cutter I will use for all future birthday cakes, etc?

FH and I didn't want to spend the money on one and our RH is providing them for me. It's just another thing that can get lost/forgotten.

We actually didn't use the nice cake cutter we got, we used another cheaper one that I got for my shower but I think the one the hall provides is totally fine!

same with me- it really doesn't matter

the hall... i've noticed quite a few people skip the cake-cutting completely. personally, i'm traditional that way - i wouldn't

this is actually how we picked our date...

FI's mom and dad got married on a 22nd, which was engraved into the cake cutter, his bro and SIL also got married on a 22nd and they engraved it on the cake cutter which was give to us who will also be getting married on a 22nd and engraving the cake cutter. kinda silly but i think it's cute and sentimental...

If I happen to get a cake cutter at my shower I'll use it. If not, I 'll use the RH's knife/cutter. It's not a big deal to me and I doubt FH even knows what a 'cake cutter' is.
