If it was your Shower... would you be mad

If it was your Shower... would you be mad

Hypothetically - if you had your bridal shower and one of your bridesmaids were unable to make it because of work reasons would you be upset with them?
I want to see what everyone else thinks about this one...

I guess it would depend on if she contributed to the shower. For example, did she help organize it? Did she help pay for it? Did she help make the favors? Did she help out the morning of the shower? If not, did she at least make an appearance for 15 minutes or so? If you can answer yes to any of those questions, then I would try to be forgiving.

My cousin is a retail manager and it is almost impossible for her to get days off. I will not be offended if she cannot make it to my shower. I know how hard she works and how little time she gets to spend with her family b/c of her long work hours.

I would be understanding if she had no other option but to work. I would be upset if it was my MOH though.

It would depend on their job and if they helped plan it or anything. 3 of the people in my party work in an office so they get set days off...so if they all of a sudden couldn't make it...I think I would be a bit more hurt then mad at them... JMO

I think it depends on the person. Has this type of thing happend before? Why can't the work be done the day before? Does she need to leave town? Can't she come late or leave early?
I would try & be understanding...but think I would be really hurt.

If it was my MOH I would be disappointed.

Honestly, I'd probably be mad they have all known when it is for months now there's no reason to not have off. If it were due to a family emergency or something more along those lines I would be upset they couldn't be there but not mad.

IT DEPENDS ON WHO IF IT WAS MY MOH OR SIL I WOULD BE UPSET BUT I KNOW MY CUZ WILL STILL BE AWAY AT COLLEGE SO SHE MAY NOT MAKE IT AND I WONT BE UPSET IF SHE CANT MAKE IT

i'm sure every case is probably conditional but if she sincerely could not get around it, then i wouldn't make a big deal over it. sometimes it's hard for our friends to accomadate every aspect of our wedding into their lives. they still have their own lives too. If she's a great friend and has been supportive thus far, then i wouldn't let it bother me.

I think it depends on the work situation...I might be disappointed but if they truly tried and couldn't I wouldn't be mad at them. I would definitely be mad at their work place though. My sis (MOH) has a job that she works all sorts of crazy hours and she is always at their beck and call. They pay for her blackberry just so she can always receive emails. She has been at plenty of family events and has had to leave early b/c she got called into work. It can be frustrating and certainly disappointing but I understand that this is her job and that is part of what her job entails. So if the person had a job where they just couldn't get off I would try to be understanding even though I know it is hard.

definitely depends upon both the situation and the person !

I think it definitely depends, sometimes things like this do happen, but at the same time she's had more than enough notice about taking off. I guess it depends if she truly did try to get out of work or not. For example, I'm a nurse & my sch. is ridiculously demanding, but I was the MOH for my friends wedding in May, and I made sure I had coverage & everyone knew I HAD to have off. But sometimes situations can't be avoided or worked out either. I guess I'd choose my reaction depending on how sincere she is about it.
