My gall bladder.. having a sonogram on Friday. Has anyone had one removed? I hear they suck it out of your belly button.
A little apprehensive...

I dont know anything about that either but can understand why you're worried. How long does the procedure take?
Im sure you will be fine.

I had a blood test today and the test is on Friday (pretty simple I'm sure) I'm just hoping that it's just the gall bladder and not something else.
I've had a rough year with health problems.

I had mine removed back in 2001 because I had gallstones.
It's really not that bad, it's one of the most common surgeries!
FM me if you need anything!

My mom had hers out. It's really not that bad. She had 3 very small 'holes' where they went in. I think now they do it differently, maybe through the belly button, but im not sure. If i remember correctly, she didnt have much pain after the surgery. Good Luck!

I had mine out. I was out of the hospital by the end of the night. They do it laproscopically now. They just make three tiny holes and pull it out the hole by the belly button. I didn't really have much pain. The only problem I had was the incision by the belly button got infected afterwards and it required me to pack the hole there for a few days which freaked me out. Otherwise everything went fine and I was up and about after a few days!! I hope everything goes ok!!

I was doubled over, in the fetal position on the bathroom floor in severe pain. Felt like the worst gas I could have ever had. It was a burning in my chest/stomach/abdomen. I was screaming in pain. My brother called an ambulance. But about 10 minutes after I had that bout, it subsided and then they diagnosed it at the hospital and took it out immediately.

My mom had this done 2 months ago. She was fine afterwards. They tell you its a 3 week recovery - but she felt back to normal after the first week. Good luck!

I had mine removed laproscopically (sp?) also. Next day I was out of the hospital and within a day of that I was walking around.
My m other on the other hand had to have it done the old fashioned way; she had a huge incision and was stuck in bed for a week!
My tip is after the surgery ask the nurses for an extra pillow or two; put them under your knees and it will ease the skin stretching the incision; it will make it feel a little more comfortable when laying down.
Don't worry, you'll be fine

That's interesting, because I have two friends that had symptoms for a while before doctors figured out what was wrong. So you just had one attack before they diagnosed you and did surgery?

No, I had these attacks periodically over the course of a few months, but the last one was the worst and they called an ambulance. I spent the entire day in the hospital getting tests run and finally that night the doctor came back and said it was gallstones and I needed it removed. And two hours later they were wheeling me into surgery.

I have indigestion and nausea when I have big meals or alcohol. I've had that doubled over pain too but not recently.
I have other gastro issues and the doc says I am more susceptible to gall stones because of it.
I just want it to go away..

Sorry, you aren't feeling well. Have they considered you pancreas? My FIL had similar symptoms & it was pancreatitis. He had surgery & is fine, but he still can't drink alcohol.
