you have 2 years y r u planning so early I'm going to scream!!!!!

first it's only a year and a half! actually 16 months! second y can't I get things done now if I want to?!?!? I'm have anxiety and stress more then most, I'm trying to keep my stress down as much as possible! idv what anyone says I think starting now is smart!

I had this problem too. We had EXACTLY a two year engagement (now I'm down to 13 months!) and we had everything major (venue, dj, photographer) booked within 6 weeks of being engaged. I wanted first pick of every thing and I knew how indecisive I could be. I wasn't expecting to fall in love with the 2nd venue we saw.

I also think that people who aren't wedding planning on LI.. don't get it. There are only so many places and so many weekends. Brides want certain things. a HUGE requirement for me was one wedding at a time.

Plus. I was able to take a nice break from like... march until now from MAJOR wedding planning. Now I'm back in wedding mode: I need a hotel block, florist, limos... I'm ordering my dress in December.

This year has FLOWN and its insane. When I started on LIW I was like... like.... 725 days away. Now I'm at 400.

Its. flying.

my thing is the list of things that have to get done. I went all inclusive so I don't have to shop around thank God bc I don't know how much I could take off that. but the list of other projects I feel like they never end! I tell them oh u want nee to stress closer to the wedding and take it out on u...... they r like ok no what do u need help with I rather make fun of u then have u stressed! that's what I thought lol

I feel the same way!!!
FH parents have given us the most problems with this. Not interested in ideas, planning etc because their response to EVERYTHING is 'its 2 years away don't worry about it now, why are we talking about this now.' They don't even ask about anything, its almost as if theres not a wedding being planned. I can only do so much to try and get them involved.

I am living upstate and am trying to juggle planning the wedding and trips to LI, finishing up school, and visiting FH in PA. It's a lot to coordinate! Stressed to the max!

luckily for me it's niether side of the family making the comments, work, friends hell even some vendors but I just want to scream shut up no one asked u!

So I was engaged many many moons ago and I had planned a two year engagment.. I had went into Davids Bridal when it was on Glen Cove road just to look around and while I was looking a sales assoociate asked if she could help ( abitter older woman) I said no thanks I am just looking.. she said well when is the big say.. I said (i think this was teh date ha!) 9/22/01. oh it will never happen so far away and walked away from me!!! REALLY!?!?!? I was floored to get taht crap from a sales associate!! I refused to go back.. DO NOT LET ANYONE TALK YOU OUT OF PLANNING EARLY! Enjoy your engagments the time will fly!!
Granted that wedding never happened but still. who was she!?!?! maybe a psychic LOL..

I understand it completely. I have so many things booked already bc of the fact that I am trying to move to PA before the wedding. Bc of that I need to have so much done.

Don't worry! I had a 20 month engagement I did EVERYTHING early so that I got the owners, the best of the companies! Who cares tell them you are organized!

We are having a 2 1/2 year engagement and got this ALL the time!! It is super frustrating. I would want to punch people out every time I heard it lmao. My response would usually just be 'well why not get it done early so I'm not stressed later?' and people usually back off. Now that its getting closer to the 1 year mark we don't get it anymore and it feels GREAT when people don't look at you like you have 5 heads when you tell them when your wedding is haha

I would love to be done planning at this point even though its early! I think planning early helps decrease the stress and ensures you get the venue you want. I have some school and family stuff going on right now making it very hard to find time to plan. I'm hoping once the semester is over I get a lot done

I feel the same way!! Everytime we book something, my FMIL says we have sooo much time why are we rushing things?....I would much rather book things sooner rather than later because things book up fast and it gives me a piece of mind!

I'm having a 2 1/2 year engagement, almost to the day and I got that ALL THE TIME! It drove me crazy! People don't understand how quickly things book. IMO, it's silly to just sit and wait and let vendors you want get away. I booked all of my major vendors about a year and a half out. Now I'm under 200 days and I'm just looking at invitations and BM dresses and don't feel stressed!

Bottom line, do what's best for your and your FH because people will always find something to say.

We are having an over 2-year engagement (though we didn't even begin planning until about 2 years out) and I'd get that a lot. I'd get especially annoyed by people who thought I was just rushing through planning. My logic is, why wait? If you have a good idea of what you want and who you want to book, why wait until the 'appropriate' time to book? I love not feeling an ounce of stress over planning because everything major is done!
