If renting, who pays for damages before you move in?
THe owner currently lives there and she's starting to pack up to move to North Carolina. When we went to take measurements we noticed she had a lot of holes in her walls (textured wallpaper) a cracked mirror on the closet door and peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. Does she have to fix all this before we move in?

In my opinion .. she should .. but people don't always do what they should .. and .. other than the broken mirror .. the repairs may not be significant enough to start a battle over.

as the landlord, it is her responsibility. if she opts not to, then i would use as a good bargaining tool re: rent.

If she doesn't fix these holes and the mirror, make sure she doesn't charge you for these damages when you move out of the place.
