If strike stays, FH has to work on Christmas!!!!

Please, please pray that this strike ends. My FH is a cop and he has to work every night-12 hour days for as long as the strike goes on...hes already been doing it this whole week so I havent seen him in over a week. Its a lot of OT, but if it lasts then he wont be around for Christmas or Christmas Eve--that would be sooo sad!!

These transit workers don't realize just how many people they are affecting.

I have to disagree with you on this. They know exactly how many people they are affecting - that is the point. If they are going to get whatever their contract demands are, this (unfortunately for commuters etc) is the best way - a strike at the busiest time of the year.

I agree that the timing is no accident. The transit workers union knows what it doing but in the end they have to look out for themselves. I am not sure how I feel about this whole situation but regardless I hope it doesn't last. Many people's holiday plans are being affected and if the economy hurts we all do.... Let's all hope for a good and quick settlement!
