I dont think so. I tipped a hair stylist once and told my mom and she said- YOU DONT TIP OWNERS!!! So I guess not...

So what about when you're getting your make up trial or hair trial and they soley work for themselves....does this apply too?

I think tips should be given based on service. If you feel that this person provided a great service and deserves a tip......tip. Doesn't matter if they own the business or not. They still have overhead to pay. JMO

Owners should not get tipped. I feel they are making enough money off me. My cousin tipped her photographer's assitant and gave it to the owner to pass it on, the assitant never got the tip. So make sure who ever your plan to tip gets it directly.

I agree, my FH and FIL own a limo company, and alot of times when they are driving, they won't get tipped if the customers know the are the owners. But sometimes they are out for hours at a time!

I think if a service is being provided (eg.. limo driver,hair,makeup etc.) and you get exceptional service than you absolutely should tip accordingly. Owner or not. They are tip based businesses.
