What are you having your officiant say about it? Are you having it lit from the beginning or are you going to light it during the ceremony?? Thanks!!

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....
no honey - not the unity candle... a memory candle is a pillar that you light in memory of someone dear who has passed....
I've actually been thinking of lighting one in memory of family who has passed & is unable to be here physically on my day..........

I think if its done right, its actually uplifting because it kind of like those people are with you, watching you get married. I just can't think of the right wording.

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....
I had one at my ceremony. The Reverend asked for a moment of silence in memory of my parents. It was very special. He also spoke about them by name and told everyone what the candle meant and we also had a poem in a frame along side a picture of them.

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....
We are having our priest say some words. Then someone, don't know who, will light the candle before the ceremony begins.

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....
This is how I'm doing it so far. The Pastor (before the procession) will say a few words to dedicate the ceremony to MOMMY........ At that time, I think I'll have him say a few words about the Memory Candle. One for Mommy........and one for the others that have passed. They will already be lit. if I have to light them, I will boo hoo the whole way.
I'm thinking about lighting them in the back, and haivng someone walk it down right before the Pastor speaks, around the same time the Unity tapers are light by Len's mom and my Matron's mom.
Still thinking.......

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....
I'm having a memory candle on Our table at the reception for my grandfather who passed just 5 months ago. It'll be lit the entire time. will have 'in loving memory' w/ my grandfathers name on it. FH might put his grandfathers name on it as well.

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....
We're also having the officient say something at the end of our ceremony about my Grandmother. I want to light a candle at the ceremony too, but I guess since he's only saying something at the end we don't know when to light it.
I'm NOT telling my mother about it b/c she'll prob dwell on it and end up crying everytime I mention anything to do with the ceremony. She's just going to have to find out the day of the wedding. She's also my matron of honor, so she'll be up there to see what we're doing 1st hand, and I know that that will be a big emotional moment for her.
Where did you guys get your memorial candles? I saw one in a magazine, but it was about $75! That's a lot for one little candle!
Let me know where you guys got yours!
Thanks!

We are going to light ours during the ceremony. I think it's such a nice idea to honor those watching from above.

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....
My unity candle and memory candle will be the same...the judge will ask for a moment of silence in memory of________________ before we light it. If you would like a copy of that part of the ceremony FM me.

Liz...you can make it there on your lunch hour. It's not to far from here...
Here is the one I used. I have to scan my own when I get home. I just don't know if I have a pic that shows it very clear....Anyway, here's the one I bought...
