We are doing one for FHs father. We are not sure yet how we are doing it. EIther it will be lit before the ceremony (by who, we are not sure) or we will do it during the ceremony, maybe when we do the unity candle.

We will also have a mention of his father in the program.

We will then take the candle with us and place it on our table for the reception.

It is really easy Liz....Take Sunrise Hwy to the exit for Hospital Road. At the light, make a right. Take it down a ways and it will be on your right side. It should take you maybe 10 minutes from your job to get there.

Before you buy a memorial candle....

Check out this website

www.decalpaper.com

They sell paper that you can make your own candle decals. 25 sheets for 19.99. You print the names and info on the decal paper, and then put the decal on the candle. I've never used it, but I'm going to try it before I run out and spend 50+ dollars on a memorial candle.

I am having a memory candle for my brother at the church. We are going to light it before the ceremony starts. I feel that lighting it will sort of mean that he has arrived. I wish he could be there. Unfortunatley, all I have is a candle to symbolize he's there. The priest will tell everyone that before we start the ceremony I will be lighting a candle in memory of my brother and have a moment of silence. Sorry this is so long. I miss him.

Boop - never apologize - your post bring tears to my eyes, I cannot even imagine losing my Brother but trust me your Brother will be there, just like my Mommy..........
The candle will symbolize your brother and his love for you that will NEVER die......
He is your eternal flame.............

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....

So sorry boop! I think your candle will be a beautiful part of your ceremony!

Instead of throwing your Bo-K, did you ever consider placing it on your brother's grave the next day? Someone on the boards mentioned they were doing that with their Bo-K, and I think I'm going to do it, too. I'm putting my throw-away Bo-k on my grandmother's grave the next day. (My bridal Bo-K is being preserved).

Hugs to you, and so sorry about your brother.

Liz,

I'll probably order it right away. I want to get things like this done ASAP, because there are so many other things to think about! I'll probably have it finished in a week or two, depending on how fast it gets here. Not sure if you want to wait that long to see how it comes out!

Thank you girls, wow, your posts put tears in my eyes, thank you for being so understanding. It is so hard to loose someone as most of you know. I cry every time I think of him not being at my wedding. Thanks for listening. You are all great.

I also plan on bringing my BO k to the cemetery the day after my wedding. I wanted to go that day and have special flowers made, but It will be really hard. I know he understands.

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....

I made my own Unity candel becasue I was appaulled with the prices of them. I put TOday I marry my friedn on vellum, printed it using the printer, and then attached the vellum to the candle with straight pins and then put pearl border around it that I bought at Joann's. It came out great and cost me like 10 tops!!!

Re: If you are doing a memory candle.....

I don't know what to do about this. I WANT a candle lit at the ceremony in memory of my mother but I feel I might get too upset. At the same time I don't feel like lighting a candle is even enough but anything more than that might be more of memorial service than a wedding!

My sister did the candle at her wedding - they lit it together as the reverend told the guests what they were doing and there may have been a moment of silence but i don't know b/c i was too busy holding back the tears so my make-up wouldn't run. You know, that horrible ball that wells up in your throat and you think you might choke if you don't let it out? I don't want that on my wedding day!!! But I absolutely need to do something in her memory b/c it will not be a wedding without her.....
