We have come to the conclusion that we will be going on our honeymoon months after our wedding b/c I am a teacher. The breaks are to short. We are getting married in NOV and have to go in the summer (ASAP after June 23) I am frustrated
What do you girls think if this?????

i know A LOT of teachers who postpone their honeymoons - others even for financial reasons or whatever else comes their path- I say take a short get away ; a 'mini' homenymoon for a few days not too far and then save the 'BIG' honeymoon for the summer!!! It will be worth it that way you dont have to worry about any lesson plans, major sub plans, or anything!!
Good luck

Lots of people do this- don't feel bad! It does stink...but it'll be worth it!!!
That's why we're having ours in August- as expensive as it is! Personally I couldn't wait and do the honeymoon later, but I'm a brat.
It's okay, it'll go fast!

What about the x-mas break, the vacation is longer this year than it was last?

AWWWWWWWWW! Look on the bright side.... You get to have your wedding when you like w/o missing any days at work and when you go on your HM you don't have to worry about rushing to get back home to get seedled to go deal with other people children. You can come back from your HM and get all the rest you need.Because you are going to need it.

I will be student teaching and getting married in November so we're doing the same----not ideal but better than nothing I guess- you're not alone though!
I look at it in a positive way- we have a career and a hubby lol

We are doing our hm summer of '08 because of me being a teacher. He however has 2 weeks off after the wedding. He says to relax - I say to put our new house together.

My FH is a teacher - we have the same date - we're going anyway.
He's using his 3 paid 'wedding days' and 2 unpaid personal days.
Our flight leaves 13 hours after the reception ends, and we land back in NY on Sunday Dec 2nd at 8pm.

Well you can take your honeymoon in Dec. Usually we get like 1-2 weeks depending on when Christmas begins. If you rather do the holidays with family, then you can try for February break that's about a week long also. If you plan on doing more than a week, then I guess you're right your best time would be in the summer. That's quite normal. Many couples don't really have the time to go right after the wedding so they postpone it until the time is right. My bf was married in January, she and her husband didn't go on their HM until the summer, she too is a teacher. They toured some parts of Europe for almost a month.

We got married in April and aren't going on the HM til July. We did have a weekend at the Ritz Carlton the weekend of our wedding though and pampered ourselves silly!!!
Think of it this way...we get to celebrate TWICE!

We decided to do our honeymoon the week after my wedding.....I will take the week unpaid if I have to...I didn't want to wait until the following summer, I felt it would be too long to wait

yeah december break seems long enough and if not you can include your sick and personal days or just wait till the summer
