If you could do it over....
I was just wondering how many people felt like the planning and money wasn't worth it. I've felt this way for 6 months now, and am wondering if I'm not alone.

I have dreamt of my wedding my whole life and so have my parents. I am an only child so this is their only chance too. I wouldn't do it any differently.

Elope. Elope...and have I mentioned , elope?Between all the family drama and the money I could be saving....I would have rather have eloped, done a trash the dress shoot and gone on our planned honeymoon.
At this point, I could care less about everything, just want to marry FH. Maybe I'm having a 'I hate the wedding' day.
OR....probably a better idea.
immediate family and close friends at a ceremony and dinner at our favorite restaurant in Kew Gardens....50 people total. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

ITA ... but I just know that I would have regretted eloping. I am blessed to still have my grandma who is 75 and I could NOT imagine get ting married without her so at best I would have just had FH and his immediate family and me and my immediate family at a small venue with no BP.

It really has nothing to do with the planning or the money. I love to party just as much as anyone else. I just don't like being fussed over......makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm kind of low key.

Re: If you could do it over....
FH and I really considered going to the courthouse and then having a party in our backyard. Then I started compiling a list of people and that list got so big that a party in the yard was out and renting all of the stuff to have a party in the park was just as expensive as a RH.Then I thought about really cutting the list to 50 or 60 and having a brunch at a restaurant but prices for that were just as much as a RH.
Then I thought about scrapping the entire wedding and going to Vegas and getting married by Elvis in a little chapel on the strip....this idea is still on the table.....
In the end, we decided to keep it at no more than 100-105 and find a venue that we felt was 'us'. So we are getting married on the beach in the sand and having a party right there. It's going to be very casual and non-formal and I am not doing any of the traditional things because...hey, I'm not a kind of traditional girl. AND I hate all of the attention on myself...that's why my dog will be there! He is cute and people will flock to him more than they will to me!

I'm on the fence too! Some days i'm so excited for the big wedding i've been planning. Then I see some of the bills and that FH and I are broke, and I wish that we would have done a destination wedding just our immediate fam and a few close friends...and used the money towards a house!!

Re: If you could do it over....
def just fly to the carib with closest fam... have a small maybe 25 person guestlist and be absolutely relaxed... i can honestly say i hated the planning... and would never do it again (if that situation ever arose) if you paid me... it is such a freakin waste... at the end of the day, you're still married to the person you love whether you spent a million dollars or $0

Re: If you could do it over....
I feel like that sometimes. After we booked the hall, I was soo happy and excited but then I started thinking about all the money it is costing and wondering if I should look for somewhere cheaper. But then my dad told me you only get married once (and I definitely plan for it to be only once) so enjoy it.But I still wonder if it's a waste of money.

Re: If you could do it over....
If you've read my posts the last day or so, you KNOW you're not alone, this is by FAR AND AWAY the most stressful thing I've ever done, and if I could do it over again, I would without a doubt, ELOPE, just me and FH, that's it, but it's too late to turn back now, so here I sit, with grey hair, possible ulcers and constant headaches, June 7th will be a VERY HAPPY day for me!!!! However, we will all get through it, our respective weddings will be the happiest days of our lives and everything will fall into place, FH told me to take a deep breath and take one day at a time, so that's what I'm going to do. Good luck, and vent all you need to!!!
