Here is the one thing I wish I could say to my FMIL:

I would say...

You say that your daughter is self-absorbed...well I know where she gets it from. Maybe you could do more to acknowledge the fact that you received an invitation to your son's wedding other than send the rsvp back. Also, how about you try asking how the wedding plans are going. Contrary to popular belief, the dress you are wearing is not the most important part of the day.

Now if I could only say that to her face!!

When me and FH or him and his mom get into it---once the 2 of us get together he says the 2 musketeers are together--there's no point in arguing

Even though I am very close to my FMIL and I am lucky she's not a beast--I would tell her to get a boyfriend so she doesn't have to make my FH feel like he has to spend every waking moment by her side
