I was pretty convinced I didn't want it before the whole wedding planning started, not these videographers are telling me things like 'If you grandmother had a video, would you want to see it?'
Do you regret not using one? Do you think you would regret it?

I don't think I will regret not having one. We will have plenty of pictures to show our grandchildren. I will probably use my parents video camera while I am getting ready so at least I have some video of me in the dress and whatnot.

During the whole planning process, I kept saying we didnt need it and wasnt planning on having one. I decided to do it like a month before the wedding, and I'm SOOOO glad I did. They day went by SO quickly, and there is so much that I missed or dont remember from the whole event, that I'm so thankful that I have the video.

I'm sorry forgot to give those like you an option in the poll.
I keep hearing stories like yours over and over ... it makes me worried that I'm not making the right decision.

If you are going back and forth like that, I'd say you should probably do it. You dont want to regret it afterwards, when its too late. Is it the cost thats the issue? I justified it because in the grand scheme of the what the wedding cost, it really wanst that much overall.

Money is an issue of course, but not the #1 one here.
I just notice that the videographers are always in the guests way, blocking the view, running wires everywhere, making guests really feel like they aren't imporant.
Also, when we got engaged, people sent us wedding videos, a good handful. We sat and laughed at everyone and how stupid they look. Its just seems like such a cheesy thing to do to me.
Just my opinion, don't kill me

FH didn't want one. I wasn't sure, but after posting on here and talking to some of my friends, I changed my mind (and FH's LOL). I changed my mind because there will be people there who won't be with us forever and you will have the live footage of them- not the same as a photo-, also because the day goes by so fast, there are things you are bound to miss that the videographer will capture, and lastly because if you have children you will be able to show them your wedding day

We aren't having one, opted instead to spend more on pics than we would have if we'd gotten a videographer - i just can't imagine ever wanting to watch ourselves on tape!

PS: nothing is better then be able to watch you say your vows over and over again. it puts you back in that same moment, like its happening right them and there

We toyed with the idea because everyone said we'd regret it if we didn't. But after seeing how expensive they are, we decided against it. Our photographer is awesome and we're going to have amazing photos from the day.
And even more importantly, at every wedding, I dance around the videographers b/c I HATE to dance on camera. I get so incredibly self conscious. I really need to be as comfortable as I can b/c I also hate when people look at me when I dance. So, we figured let's forget the idea.
Whatever you choose will be great.

I might ask someone to tape our ceremony (the important parts, as it's a full mass) and I'll edit it later, and put it to music on my mac. I would love to have the vows on tape, but don't need the professional film of this.

i'm using video because i really want some of our wedding day memories in motion. hopefully the technology isn't obsolete by the time my children are old enough to watch it there probably won't be a DVD player to be found anywhere!

we had one and are so happy we did! Both my grandfathers couldnt make it to the wedding at the last minute so I am grateful we can show them the video.
My sister didn't have a video and she says its her biggest regret. They didn't want teh camera in their faces and all over the place, but now she really wishes she had gotten one.

I was so anti-videography in the beginning of the wedding planning. DH wanted it so I gave in. I am so glad I did because the day went so fast that I don't even remember a lot of it. I'm glad we did it. Had I not...i would have regretted it!

We didnt use a videographer but my cousin filmed the WHOLE wedding. Its not professional but it captured my memories and I saved about 2000.

Re: If you didn't have a videographer ... w/ Poll
A friend of mine didn't have a videographer at his reception and lost the opportunity to capture his BM's speech (which was the best speech I've EVER heard...had us all in tears!)
I tried to record it for him with my digital camera, but I ran out of memory after 4 minutes, so my friend will NEVER be able to hear his BM's speech in full again (only the first 1/3 of it).
Just something to think about...
