or any other personal article in a public toilet or on subway tracks or any other gross place would you go in and get it? i'm having a debate with friends over this so i'm curious to see what other people say.
i dropped my sunglasses in a toilet the other day and left them there. i'm not sticking my hand in a public toilet for anything. not even my wedding ring, i don't think i could wear it knowing it's been someplace that gross.
anyway, my friends are trying to convince me that sticking your hand in the toilet is no worse then touching the handle of the bathroom door (which i try to avoid when possible) and that i need some germs in my life to build up immunities. what do you guys think? am i being overly germ-a-phobey?
i think they're all crazy and have challenged them to go to someplace with gross public toilets (like shea where i lost my glasses) and stick their hand in there and see how they feel.... ha ha ha

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
It depends on the item. Sunglasses? No. Wedding Ring? Absolutely. Is it gross and would I gag? Yup, but it's still worth more than anything in the world. I'd dissinfect it and bring it to a jeweler to be steamed and clean it a million times but I'd still go get it.

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
sunglasses, toilet - maybe not.
wedding ring - toilet - DEFINITELY!!!
Subway tracks - not worth risking my life but if there was a cop around, I'd see what they could do.

I agree, it depends on the item. I would DEFINATELY reach in and grab my sunglasses. And anyone who would not get their wedding band i think is crazy. My wedding band and e-ring are worth grabbing for! Who's isn't???????

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
actually...i dropped my cell phone in a grotesque puddle once over the summer...
and guess what? a guy fished it out for me...and he asked me for money!!!!!
so i handed him a single...and he's like: 'can i have another one?'
HELLO!!!
i went back up to my office took the phone apart and soaked the pieces in lysol...it didn't really work that great after that...

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
I am guilty of reaching into a public toilet to retrieve my sunglasses, so I would have no problem going in there for my wedding ring.

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
I'd stick my hand in almost anything to get my engagement/wedding ring back...
Sunglasses, cell phones..all of that can be replaced..
rings they can too, but the meaning just isn't the same anymore.
but i'm not risking my life to get it from the subway tracks.

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
E- ring in toilet yes. It's an antique. E-ring on subway tracks, hell, no! I'd call an MTA worker and get them to do it!
Glasses....hmmm...depends....I can always get them again with my flex spending money.
