or any other personal article in a public toilet or on subway tracks or any other gross place would you go in and get it? i'm having a debate with friends over this so i'm curious to see what other people say.
i dropped my sunglasses in a toilet the other day and left them there. i'm not sticking my hand in a public toilet for anything. not even my wedding ring, i don't think i could wear it knowing it's been someplace that gross.
anyway, my friends are trying to convince me that sticking your hand in the toilet is no worse then touching the handle of the bathroom door (which i try to avoid when possible) and that i need some germs in my life to build up immunities. what do you guys think? am i being overly germ-a-phobey?
i think they're all crazy and have challenged them to go to someplace with gross public toilets (like shea where i lost my glasses) and stick their hand in there and see how they feel.... ha ha ha

It depends on the item. Sunglasses? No. Wedding Ring? Absolutely. Is it gross and would I gag? Yup, but it's still worth more than anything in the world. I'd dissinfect it and bring it to a jeweler to be steamed and clean it a million times but I'd still go get it.
Exactly!!! I can always disinfect it - my wedding ring is worth more than the money - its a memory - i coudl never just leave it there - i would always think about it knowing i left it in a toilet - it would just flash into my mind and bother the cr@p out of me!

If you tell a train booth operator, they will send someone down! NEVER GO ON THE TRACKS LADIES!

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
the wedding ring/engagement ring would be the ONLY thing i would take out... those things are very sentimental, then i could get them cleaned like a bunch of times before i wear it.....
anything else i dont think its worth it...

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
I would definitely go after anything of value. Especially my wedding or e-ring. I may even go after my sunglasses since DH bought them for me in Key West and they are pretty expensive. The toilet water is probably cleaner than the door, I always use a paper towel to open the doors, at least the toilet has bleach or disinfectants in it.

I am guilty of reaching into a public toilet to retrieve my sunglasses, so I would have no problem going in there for my wedding ring.
Me too - at the Boardy Barn! yuck.

wedding ring...OF COURSE! It can be cleaned and disinfected....and there just as many if not more germs on the handle of a door than in the toilet water (after a flush)

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
I think the DH would kick my A$$ if I left my e-ring/wedding band in a public toliet.
I would 100% reach in for my rings but not for much else... maybe my glasses so I could see if I was driving (I am so blind without my glasses) but thats about it.

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
I wouldn't keep sunglasses droped ina toilet, but I'd feel bad leaving them there. Talk about plumbing problems!
As long as the toilets flush properly & are cleaned regularly its not that gorss. Its actually grosser to get a ring, b/c you really gotta fish for it! , but I'd do it.
I dropped my phone once while crossing the street & somehow managed to pick it up whiel still walking & not stopping inteh intersection, but cars were tying to turn so that was pretty stupid actually. I also droped my space pen crossing a bigger street, and it fell behind me, so I didn't get it, the light was changing. On my way back though, it was still there, the cap was just smooshed, so I picked it up. I think people thoght I was nuts, but they didn't see that I just dropped in a few minutes before. ( I was just running into an atm)

Re: if you dropped your wedding ring....
It depends. I had a pair of 100.00 tommy hilfiger sunglasses that I lost. But if I dropped them in a public toilet I probably would grab them. My wedding RING YES I would stick my hand in the toilet and get it. I watch something on TV about this. The toilet even the seat is cleaner then the door handle!
