If You Had 50K For A Reception...

Original post by eden

Where would you have it?

My vote is for Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange NJ.

Absolutely Gorgeous Pllace, $300/head though. Ch-ching! :)

I would take $20K of it and spend it on the wedding and use the rest towards a down payment

I say that now, b/c DH and I are starting to look at homes and......

same goes for me!

Id have the same wedding I am planning now and use the other half towards a house.

I would have it either at Cipriani's in the city or at the same place I'm having it now just with more extras like lobster and oyster bar, linen package etc.

Hey if you are willing to go into nj then you should check into a hall that just opened last summer, it is unbelievable, my best friend had her ceremony and reception there. By far the best food we have ever had at a wedding.
It is called The Palace in Somerset Park.

I would fly our family and friends to a resort and get married on the beach.

Yes, it sounds amazing. I saw them at a bridal show before the place was even built and they were booking events just from showing people the floor plan. They were giving a 'good deal' since the facitility wasnt' built, yet. But, I was too much of a chicken to book something that hadnt' been built, yet. Actually, I don't know if it even would have been completed in time for my wedding, so I guess I wouldnt' have had that option anyhow.

But, I think the people who booked based on the floor plan only got qoutes in the high $80s per head. NJ sales tax is only 6% too, so what a nice deal those early brides got!!!

She didn't get it that cheap but she did plan her entire wedding in 8 months to get it at a better rate. It will defintitely be much more expensive now, but if you have the $$$ to spend, it is worth it. I did not have one complaint. The service and the food were impeccable.

I would not change the place where my wedding was!!!!

I'd just add sushi!!

This is very funny...couldn't negotiate that one kid huh?

No, but the there was so much 'asian inspired' food that they did throw in, so I really don't know if I would have added sushi. There was raw tuna on a bed of rice, and there was salmon, but technically, that was not their sushi station!

For 50K--Forget the sushi--add the shot BOYS!!!! How could I forget them!!! No, wait, add the shot boys serving sushi. But have someone else make the sushi. I would not want them to play with those sharp knives while they are naked!

Yeah $50K is not that much when ANY wedding is concerned.
