did you invite the officiant to dinner?

I think it depends on your relationship with him/her. We invited ours to be polite but we really weren't that close with him, he did decline but appreciated the gesture

We didn't invite ours. We only knew him from a few meeting with him and he was quite annoying and I could not have imagined spending a night with him. It's definitely not necessary, but a nice gesture!!

Just because when I called one justace of the peace, I asked if he does rehearsals. He said right off that he can do them but he does not come to dinners because then he gains too much weight. I wasn't even thinking of inviting him to the dinner until he said something!
