Re: If you had more money in the budget what would you do
I am reading this and most of the girls are saying house which I think is interesting. We all want to have houses yet we put so much time and money into one day of our lives. I am not judging b/c I am guilty of it too! I will say that part of it is my family (my foreign born parents (who married in europe) couldn't afford a reception inviting both big familes so, in accordance with very old croatian tradition, only the groom's family partied with the newleyweds at their home and the brides family celebrated seperately). My dad really wanted a lavish menu for my wedding. My sister paid for 90% of her wedding and I am doing the same and we both let ur parents invite all their friends. My parents almost seem proud theirgirls can throw the big fancy weddings with all the upgrades. As much as it hurts me to pay the money - I know my dad is happy that his girls can do this and so proud to have his friends see it. Knowing that in many ways uis enough for me to warrant all this 'fluff'
I went to a stunning wedding last weekend that hit 6 figures. 275 people, incredible and neither the bride nor the groom are rich. Part of me kept thinking - wow they could have had a house and the other part of me was like wow - what can I add to have something more like this!
I have always been a saver so someday I know we will have the house too. My best freind also lost her very young mom in the last few months. I think I realized through that loss that planning for the future (like my friend's mom always did) is nice but you never know if or when you will get there. I am sorry I am rambling - I am not saying splurge or anything - live your life the best you can now - it is short and it FDLIES by. Decide what is most imprtnant to you and the people you lve and go with that!
Clearly I am emotional and rambling today (but there is good reason) - lol!
