If you had to skimp....UPDATED with pics

If you had to skimp....UPDATED with pics

...on something pricy for your wedding, what would it be?

UPDATE:

I am glad a lot of you mentioned that you would skimp on CPs. At first I fell in love with CPs like pic #1 but then after thinking about the cost associated with it, I would rather put the $2k+ towards something else like my honeymoon where it will go a lot further. I found these hurricane candle holders at Target and I bought one to get my FHs and my moms opinion and I feel like people are saying just want I want to hear. How do you feel about the candle holder sitting on a tray of some sort that is filled with sand and has starfish, seashells and tea lights all around it in the sand? PLEASE be honest, we are really not skimping with anything so I dont want these to look 'cheap', but I realized that we should try to save some money here and there.

My dream (but I want taller) CPs

flowers, you can do nice centerpieces on the cheaper side and still look nice!

Yeah I agree with flowers. I don't think they are as important as everything else. That is probably why I haven't started looking at vendors to book them..lol

prob make up/ hair, or a cheaper dress

i dont think i could have given up photo or video cause i feel thats the only thing you have to remember the day

oh and i guess if i ABSOLUTELY needed to i could hook my ipod to really big speakers and do that instead of a dj LOL

I love the CP on number 1. I would just be careful with cheaping out too much on the flowers...you don't want to make it seem extravagant but you also don't want to look cheap!!!

I think its a great idea. it sounds so pretty. and i think you and your guests will appreciate it more because it is unique and you did it youself.

I can not justify spending a few grand on flowers, knowing that they will die with in days. So we're doing candabras. The only flowers will be the personals. We're putting that $$ towards our other wedding weekend events.

We decided not to skimp on favors b/c we want to give the guest something fun, that would capture a part of our wedding & Grey Goose la Poire isn't excatly budget

We also went w/ a DJ over a band, but this too would be better to create the ambiance we want. ( We love trip-hop, & want that type of music )

We got a fab, deal on photo & video.

There are tons of places to cut corners & still have a beautiful wedding, trust me I'm planning one, too.

BTW: I love your vase, I think candels in it would be beautiful & bright for your 4th of July wedding @ BYC ..

i love that vase and any CP that has lots of candles. be careful that it is not obstructing anyone's view as it is very colorful (unlike a clear vase in a similar size)

i am skimping on:
invitations, programs (DIY)
favors
shoes
veil
flowers (low w/ in season flowers)
cake (using cake from hall incl in price)
make-up (DIY)

I am skimping on:

dress (got it at like 90% off)
invitations
jewelry
cake (Bm is helping me out!)
veil
hair/makeup (hopefully!!)

probably other stuff....?

I skimped on CPs. I just thought it would be such a waste to spend $100-150 on flowers that die in a few days anyway. I'm using candles instead. Much less expensive, and for the guests who take them home, they will last forever.

i think if you vamp up the beach theme like u said (with starfish, sand, and shells and such) that they'll look fabulous :) I do think u should add some sort of long stemmed flower though. i'm gonna send u forum mail too with my florists info - she really is amazing... i got my centerpieces for a bargain deal. good luck with everything!
