If you haven't registered yet, BIG TIP!!!

If you haven't registered yet, BIG TIP!!!

Hey, ladies!! I recently got married, and although I haven't done my review yet, there is a piece of advice I wanted to pass along asap, because I find it so valuable.

I registered at Macy's. I had a wonderful experience there, and everyone was so unbelievably helpful. THEN I found my china pattern at Bed Bath and Beyond for almost $50 less (with a different cup). I couldn't justify having people pay that much more for it, so I registered at Bed Bath and Beyond as well.

There are a lot of things you register for that you decide you don't need, or you decide that you want something else more. Tastes change, you don't get all your china, you run out of room, etc.

I have returned things to Macy's, and you get a store credit.

However, Bed, Bath and Beyond gives you CASH BACK. No, you don't need receipts or anything- if it was on your registry, and you return it, you get cash back.

I hope this doesn't sound grabby or anything, but frankly, I was really surprised with this. Since I was unexpectedly laid off two weeks before the wedding (thanks, Deutsche Bank), our financial situation is different than we had anticipated, and this has been extremely valuable. There are things we decided we didn't need, and we returned them and we are using the money to buy a computer, which we desperately need. I know our guests would be happy knowing that they helped us get something we really need.

Okay, that's it. Just wanted to pass that along. Especially in this day and age of stores going out of business, I'm comforted knowing that we won't wind up with a bunch of store credits, and then that store goes out of business.

I hope this helps someone!! Best of luck with everything!! And ps- I'm not knocking Macy's. Just thought the Bed Bath return policy was very helpful.

Wow that is extremely helpful, I was just thinking today is there any advantages in registering at one store VS another!!! Thanks for the tip. We are date twins a year apart =)

I was told that I will get store credit at Macy's. I ONLY registered for a few things at Macy's (my mother was upset with this decision).

I told Bed Bath and Beyond that we should be able to rank things with stars on how badly we need/ want things. For example, right now I really need glass cups and could careless if I recieved my second gravy boat... so I would rank glass cups with a lot of stars and the second gravy boat with one or two...

The guy at Bed Bath and Beyond thought it was a good idea and said he would tell the company (which I doubt he will), but we should be able to rank things according to our desire of them.

I was registered at Fortunoff and BBB- then of course I just did everything at BBB. But fortunoff had the same return policy as Macy's- you got store credit. And they were pretty strict about the item having to have been taken of fyour registry or they wouldn't take it back. BBB def has the best return policy!

you should be able to call up the store, tell them you bought the coffee pot as a gift, but forgot to take it off the registry..they should be able to take it off for you

Good tip! Crate and Barrel will give you back $100 in store and anything over that amount can be processed through their corporate office and have a check sent. We had gift receipts so dunno if that made a difference.
