Do you tip them and feed them? I feel like I'm paying enough money to him and he's not my priest.
Just wondering?
TIA

Re: If you hired an officiant
We are paying $750 for a rabbi that we have met once. He met with us once for a half hour and I think we will meet again once to just go over the ceremony (that we wrote ourselves). I really think that $750 is over the top for an officiant so I really can't imagine inviting him to the wedding or tipping him.

we are using the same officiant-I'm probably not tipping, or inviting him. I wouldn't worry about it. I figured he might just mingle at the cocktail hr-he'll probably be ready to split right after anyway.

Thanks, that's what I figured, but the FH insisted we may have to. Once again, I knew you guys would have the answers. Thank god for LIW!

Re: If you hired an officiant
We hired an officiant thats really nice... we've met with her twice to go over details and plan it out before the rehersal even gets here. She helped us write our own vows, and plan whos doing/saying what. We're paying 650, and for all that shes doing, I think shes well worth it. We invited her to the reception, though I think shes declining. (apparently our wedding is also her husband's birthday, so shes going to go spend time with him instead, understandable. )
I don't think we're tipping, just because we did extend the invite, and we don't have the hugest of budgets to tip EVERYONE on top of their fees.

Re: If you hired an officiant
We have the same officiant and we're not going to tip or feed him. He is getting 100% of the fee, so no need to tip (we feel). Regarding the 'feed'...we mentioned it to him that we would like him to say a blessing at dinner, etc., but he mentioned he had another wedding after ours.
