if you put your FI's parents' names on your invite...
How did you word it?
We have
Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Kara [middle name] to Todd [middle name] son of Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name
However, I originally wanted
Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Kara [middle name] to Mr. Todd Middle Last name son of Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name
The invitation store said it wasn't done that way, to leave my FI's last name off. I understand their reasoning, but I have seen SO many invites written that way.
Your thoughts?
I mean, I get that it's repetitive... but which way have you seen it?

I believe I have only seen it with the groom's first and middle name unless his last name is different from that of his parents i.e. mom is remarried and biological dad not involved/included.

Actually, the groom can use his last name on the invite in any situation. I had a long discussion about this with my invite lady b/c we're both our parents are paying & he's a Jr, so it makes things complicated. It's also in the book of wedding etiquette by Emily Post.

I am using my first & middle names and for Fh using his first & last name cause he doesn't have a middle name and it looked kinda off-center without using his last name.

We put his first middle and last name even with his Mom's name.
My cousin put just first and middle and people actually wrote out checks to Mr. and Mrs. His MIDDLE name!

here's the link to the post I put on the 07 board -- we just got our design samples back from smashing cards, maybe this will help
Re: if you put your FI's parents' names on your invite...
We didn't put DH's last name on our invite because we had 'son of Mr. & Mrs. ___' The only time I would think you would put the grooms full name is if the parents' names aren't on there.

Ours said his whole name because he has a different last name as his mother. But if they had the same last name I would've just written 'Kevin Charles'

We are doing:
Ms. XXXXXXX (my mom)
and
Mr. and Mrs. XXX (his parents)
request the honour of your present at the nuptial mass uniting their children
Meaghan
and
Michael John
eta: when I was searching for wording, it normally had FH's full name (including last name) but I dont like the way that looks!

You can write it however you want.
My invite read: Mr. and Mrs. My Parents together with Mr. and Mrs. DH Parents request the honour of your presence as their children Christine Middle Last and Keith Middle Last
We both had our last name written on the invite, for no particular reason. It was just how we wanted it to look and read.

Re: if you put your FI's parents' names on your invite...
We did:
Mr. & Mrs. Bride's parents and Mr. & Mrs. Groom's parents request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their children Bride's name and groom's name
then the date, time, place
ETA: for bride's name and groom's name, we did first and middle names, no last names

mines like:
Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Kara [middle name] to Todd [middle name] son of Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name
