if you put your FI's parents' names on your invite...
Original post by Kara and Todd
How did you word it?
We have
Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Kara [middle name] to Todd [middle name] son of Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name
However, I originally wanted
Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Kara [middle name] to Mr. Todd Middle Last name son of Mr. and Mrs. First Middle Last name
The invitation store said it wasn't done that way, to leave my FI's last name off. I understand their reasoning, but I have seen SO many invites written that way.
Your thoughts?
I mean, I get that it's repetitive... but which way have you seen it?

Do it however you want! When I ordered my invites, the lady said that it is usually just written with the bride and grooms first and middle names, as well. But I really wanted it to include both of our last names, so I did it my way. And I'm glad I did! Even though the names get kind of repetive, I love the way that our names stand out more on the invite since they take up more space. If you're really not sure, most places will let you see a printed proof of the invite for under $10 before they print up the order, just in case you want to change anything.

We did the first way - I didn't put FH's last name on the invite because we had 'son of Mr. and Mrs. ______'. I also just liked the way it looked better personally. Here is a pic of what I did:

I personally don't like it when your FH has a last name on the invitation but you don't. Guess I'm more of a feminist, but it just makes it seem like you're the demure little object whose name doesn't matter, whereas his does. What really drives me nuts is when it's Bride's First and Middle name to Mr. Groom's First Middle and Last!!!!! What is that about?!!!! Why not Ms. Bride's First Middle Last to Mr. Groom's First Middle Last???? Is he more important than you?
