If you were invited to a wedding and couldn't go...
would you send a card or a card & a gift?
If not, why?

I would send a card with a check. Or a gift with a card. You should still send something...

Normally I would NOT have sent a gift, but recently a friend of mine told me that they always thought that was what you are supposed to do. And considering the amount of gifts we received from people who RSVPed No, I would send a gift, whether it be a check or a gift card

But what if the person's wedding you were invited to, wasnt a good friend - more of an aquaintance?

My parents were invited to a wedding and don't know why they were invited. I told them it probably was because the bride and groom were looking for a gift. They replied NO and didn't send a gift. It really depends. If you're not close with the person and don't intend to invite them to your wedding then don't give a gift. They might just be looking for one.

I would send a crad and a gift. If it was family or a close friend I would send a check. If it was someone I wasn't close to, I would send a token gift like a wedding frame or something.

Definitely send something. Check, gift card...even if you purchase something smallish off of their registry, it will be appreciated.

depends on my relationship with the person if it is family or a close friend then I would send a card w/ a check or a nice gift if it is a long distance cousin or someone you are no really close to I don't think it is a bad thing if you dont send something

Re: If you were invited to a wedding and couldn't go...
it would depend on the person who invited me.
i dont think i would not be able to attend a wedding for someone that i am close too - i make sure that i can attend for close family/friends so i cant really see that situation happening unless it was a last minute cancellation on my part and i would def still give a gift.....
if i was invited to say a random persons wedding and didnt go - than i probably wouldnt send a gift - it really depends on my relationship with the couple.....im not going to send someone i barely know a gift - thats stupid to me & im probably not attending your wedding because i dont like you/or know you that well in the first place

ditto.
I've always done that, being wedding, christening, communion, etc.

Card and gift/check. Actually we just got invited to a wedding and will not be going to it, so this is what I was planning on doing. Many people did the same thing for us.
