Re: If you were moving to NJ.....
I live in Somerset County right now - in Somerset but we are looking to buy in Somset, Franklin Park or Princeton. From those areas, it take about 1 1/2 hours to get home to see my parents in Oyster Bay. Although I love LI, I see the $$ benefits of living here. FM me if you need any info- good luck!

Re: If you were moving to NJ.....
If you will be traveling often I would stick to Bergen or Passaic County
We live in Passaic, have a business in Bergen and travel to the east end of LI pretty frequently---
From home we can make it to the GWB in 40 minutes and from work we are at the GWB in 5 minutes
Also try to stay away from places in NJ that cause you to go thru SI to get to LI-- not a fun ride on weekends--my Brother and SIL live in S Jersey and complain every time they go to LI
Just my opinion

I live in East Rutherford...where the meadowlands stadium is. About 15 minutes from NYC (no traffic). I can make it to Ronkonkoma to see my family in about 1 hour 20 mins (no traffic). I just moved here in March...bought a condo. I like it.

Washington Township ,, Glouscester County . It is like 15 minutes outside of Phila... Two hours from Baltimore and 1 1/2 hours from NYC...50 minutes from Atlantic City .. It is a nice -- community with young familys -- a fantastic school that has its own performing arts center-- and you can get a brand new four bedroom house with three car garage -- loaded for like 350,000!! It is where I grew up -- and I love it -- People up here think South Jersy is farmland -- but this is not that far SOuth!! We are hoping to move back in a few years !

Re: If you were moving to NJ.....
My husband grew up in Holmdel (Monmouth County) and his family still lives there.... It's beautiful there, but very $$$ and being really overbuilt imo!! We go back there every other weekend to see FH's family and every time we go back we see another development or strip mall.... It's crazy!!!!
But if you do look at Momouth, also look at Little Silver, Tinton falls, Rumson, Navasink....All Gorgeous and right on the water, but very $$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: If you were moving to NJ.....
I would also vote for Rumson My brother lives there--def $$$ though
But the perks are you get to go to Bruce Springsteen's house to trick or treat!!!!
One of my twin nieces (2 1/2 years old) screamed at him this year--- they got into a habit to yell at the motion activated halloween decorations my SIL has so when they saw him dressed up she started to yell to activate him
Can't wait till she is older to tell her what she did!!!!!

Re: If you were moving to NJ.....
I would move to Maywood so that I could hang out with Alicia Helene!!! Honestly, I am not from new Jersey, but have lived here for along time and I LOVE Madison Nj, I love westfield and used to live in Cranford which are LOVELY towns, NJ is a very beautiful state, despite its reputation. Nj has its tacky poeple , as does everywhere else, but it has alot of beauty, plus I live here..so it cant be half bad!! hheeeeheee
