If your not having a receiving line please come in...
How are you going about this at the ceremony? Are you having the priest announce there will be no receiving line? TIA

we're getting married at WCC. so right after the ceremony we'll gol straight to the bridal suite and then take pics, while the guests are being moved to the CH. no announcement.

Do you think I should have the priest say something letting everyone know?

I don't think it's necessary for the priest to make an announcement...

GREAT Question! I was wondering the same thing, we're getting married @ the church though, we really want to save time by skipping the receiving line, we WILL be attending our CH, so we figured this would give us a chance to talk & mingle w/ our guests a bit before the reception. I didn't think an announcement by the priest was necessary?

we didn't have one and no one announced anything. we just kind of made our way around the tables at the reception to greet everyone

i think people will figure it out...not everyone does it anymore.
We are actually going to go straight to the bridal suite after walking back up the aisle to have a few minutes to ourselves...I would like to have the waitors come right out after the ceremony with glasses of wine to kick off the cocktail hour ASAP!!

You can always put it in the program if you are having one....however I have never been to a wedding where there is one so I think its unnecessary and we will be mingling at our cocktail hour

We'll probably have the preist make an announcement. The ceremony at the church is at 11AM and CH starts at 12:30 so there will be no time.

I have attended weddings where an announcement was made that there will be no receiving line. I will be also be having an announcement made about no receiving line. It's not all that uncommon any longer.

I guess we can play it by ear. Not many people are coming to the ceremony but we don't have that much light to take pictures. We will be at the CH so we can say Hi to everyone then.

Please take this advice from a woman who KNOWS:
Get your pictures done ASAP so you can enjoy your party. Anything that will take you out of your party for even a few minutes can SERIOUSLY bum you out.
A receiving line is only going to take time out of your day. No line is really necessary, and no announcement need be made, they'll figure it out.

My sister got married two weeks ago..and before they walked 'up the aisle' the priest announced that 'they had asked him to let everyone know to head over right to the reception to start the party'..it got a good chuckle out of everyone and all knew that there was no receiving line..also, try and get the word out ahead of time so most people know...
