If your shower is a surprise. . .

do people still talk about it with you?

in my family, at some point around my year mark - all talking about showers STOPPED. . . that is just how we do it in my family. . . like i pretend i dont know that i am having one, and they pretend they are not throwing me one - trying to keep it 100% a surprise

FILs on the other hand, talk to me about it all the time! I mean, not where or when it is but like:

'Oh I may wear this to your shower'
'I was shopping for your shower yesterday and I noticed this on your registry'
'I wonder if so and so is coming to your shower'

and i want to cover my ears and scream LA LA LA

So, my question is: Do you people talk about your shower with you?

So far my shower is a surprise even though I HATE surprises.

In general no one really mentions it in front of me and if they decide to talk about it when I'm around, they tell me to leave the room. My sister did this a few weeks ago when FH and I were at her house. I think I know what month its going to be since I heard little blippets of the conversation. That is unless they are trying to trick me. It's definetely a possibility, can't rule it out.

I just got off the phone with my matron of honor b/c I e-mailed her my guest list and she started telling me that it is almost booked and and that she spoke to everyone in the bp already. Everyone knows I want it to be a complete suprise so they will never tell me when or where or give any details, its just fun knowing that they are planning it already

yeah like at my year mark my sister asked me to email her my guest list so she can start planning it. . . but as it gets closer, they kind of stopped talking about it

that is exciting though!

I would LOVE for mine to be a surprise, but there is no one getting married or having a baby around when mine would be so I dont think they could ever surprise me.

If anyone has any ideas on how my family can trick me so I can be surprised for once in my life, the FM me. I will put you in contact with my family..LOL (seriously though- haha )

anniversary parties
graduation parties

it doesnt have to have anything to do with a wedding/baby

We got my cousin good bc we just told her to drop off balloons for her mom's birthday party later that night - and she ran into the restaurant with the balloons and got all annoyed that the workers didnt just take them in for her - but it was her shower!!

I should just tell my mom to make something up and surprise me...lol

I am too intuative, inquisitive and just plain nosy though...LOL

I had two showers....one in Milwaukee and one in New York. Neither of them were ever mentioned to me and they were both 100% a surprise!

We don't have any other events either. I think we are the only family wedding next year.

My thought is that they might trick me by discussing that its in one month then it actually ends up another. I know they've pretty much planned where and when.

That's kinda how it is with me.
I want it to be a total surprise but at the same time, I HATE surprises and I have a vision of what I'd like it to be. So I talk about it to my mom and one of my friends who is in the BP and then I hope that they talk to my maid of honor lol

I know my theme, that's about it. The date will be a surprise, the guestlist will also be a surprize. I'm giving our complete guestlist spreadlist. Wasn't it you suggested that we put the person's relationship to the couple for the shower That way if it had to be cut , they would know who they were.

My shower isn't going to be a surprise. We just got finished doing my sisters shower and it would have been so much more helpful if she was clued in. Also I would rather be involved so that way my sister doesn't spend other people money when planning. I want to participate making the invitations and the centerpieces cause I really want it to be what I have always expected it to be. My sisters are ok with it. All I need to do is put on my SURPRISE FACE

so what do you do? do you walk around dressed really nice for the entire month of march/april/may? just incase so you don't show up somewhere in sweats lol i was thinking this the other day at a baby shower for my cousin, luckily she came in a cute dress.

i honestly don't understand how people get dressed up for their shower unless they know its going to happen. All the bridal showers I have gone to were just nice but not dressed up clothes so that the bride didn't suspect since i never get dressed nicely on a weekend.

I told fh that he should tell me we are finally going out to a fancy restaurant that day so i can be dressed up - he goes if i said that then you would know its for your shower which he is right.

So jeans and a t-shirt for me!!! I am going to start putting my bride sweatshirt in my car though after next month just to have.

Well, I assume they are going to tell me that it is another party of some sort because my sis already said that she would make sure I had a nice outfit planned for the day.

we usually use another party as an excuse so the bride would be somewhat dressed up

for my cousin's shower my aunt actually brought a few things for her to wear in case she wasnt dressed up enough! lol
