If you're booked at a hall on the expensive end

Original post by HSsweethearts

Do you feel the other vendors look at you and see $$$$$$?

I think I may be being paranoid about this.

But I am a person who likes to negotiate everything, and HAS to because we did go over budget on the hall so we need to cut everywhere else.

I'm not sure the other vendors will want to give us the best deal because they'll assume we can pay the higher price..

PS_ I'm not getting married at the Plaza, or Oheka or anything, but it's definitely above average in cost.

We did alot of negotiating and would up with 200 ppl around 170/pp with 5K site fee on a friday night in the peak of the summer. In the winter there prices are better. But Sat night they do not negotiate!

wow, that's not too bad at all! congratulations! that's so exciting!

if you're paranoid, tell vendors that you're getting married elsewhere (somewhere cheap lol) ... then get price quotes ... then 'change' your RH after you
sign the contract lol

but honestly, i don't think they'd be any less likely to negotiate with you

my FH is paranoid that this is the case, and I do feel like my flowers quotes were high.

But i think it's necesary to tell them....Plus i think it helps the vendor understand my style etc.

Definitely! I mean we went with some of the more expensive vendors for some things just because I'm destined to be broke by the end of this but we went to one florist who quoted us $6800 and I swear I wanted to punch him in the face.

ETA: Don't tell them what other vendors you're booked with either. I would remain vague about the location and don't say you're booked with anyone else yet. When that particular florist heard who I was using for a couple of vendors that were very important to me but on the more expensive side he heard $$$ and probably thought we were loaded. Unless you're booked with people on the less expensive side, then maybe it would work to your advantage to share that you're on a strict budget.
