If you're planning to attend your Cocktail Hour...

Original post by BlondeJD

Are you really going to be AT the cocktail hour or just in the bridal suite and having them set up a mini-CH for you & BP in there? I'm just a little worried about maneuvering around all those people in my big a$$ dress Also, will FH and I really get to enjoy the CH or is it going to be more like we get stuck talking to one or two people and hope to catch an hors d'oeurve or two while the trays are being passed?

Our CH is going to be 1.5 hours, so we'll probably go in for a while then go to the BP room before making our entrance.

We had food in the bridal suite for the BP and us before we finished taking pics. We went to about 20-30 minutes of the cocktail hour and it was great to get all the hellos out of the way.

I also wanted to have fun and dance during the party and I did.

Just make sure you stay together. DH was talking more than me and I kept having to pull him to the next people.

Our matrie'd got us when it was about 10-15 minutes before the reception started so we could look at the room all set up, and wait in the suite until everyone was up.

Oh, I had my dress bustled before I went in the CH so it wouldn't be in the way.

Well be on a boat for the first half, then attending :) So well get our private time and then mingle!

It seems that more and more couples are opting to go to the CH for a little while to say hello and see the whole thing set up. we are going to ours (maybe not the whole hour). We figured we are paying for this, we should enjoy it!! THere is a time frame between the church and the reception which allows for pictures and time for us to enjoy some of the CH.

Definitely! IT's outside and as long as it's nice, I rather be outside with our guests.

We are going to take pics before CH so we can enjoy it. I plan on having them bring all the food we want to the bridal suite and then going to the CH so we can begin to greet people and all.

I think that's a good idea. Maybe take 10-15 minutes after the ceremony, load up on food in the bridal suite (since I'm sure we'll have forgotten to eat) and then get out to the CH and start mingling.

We went to ours and since I was worried about getting spilled on I sat at a table and people came to me. DH mingled some and sat down some. The bridal attendant brought food to me.

we mingled and were glad we did -- we were able to greet about 100 guests so we had more time to enjoy the reception
