Re: If you've been to St. Lucia, please tell me about that scary connecting flight...
Well I chalk it up to a combination of a few things but it makes me so mad cause I used to love flying!
It was a small seater plane. Maybe smaller. There were like 10 of us on it.
Now I’ve been in really small planes before. I used to fly w/ a friend in a 2 seater trick plane so the size didn’t bother me.
The weather was iffy. It wasn’t raining but it was gray and cloudy. Unstable to say the least. Take off was ok but the turbulence was so bad. The place didn’t even have a cockpit door so when I saw the pilot a 25 year old girl and her co pilot a 15 year old boy I questioned their experience. It's not that they may not have been capable but it wasn’t reassuring. The plane continued to bounce all over. So bad that you could feel the seat shifting and the luggage in that back cargo area was falling all over the place. At one point no exaggeration we must have dropped for 10 seconds.
We kept going up and down side to side. The pilot never said a word! We didn't know if everything was fine and it was just really bumpy or if they were struggling to maintain the plane.
I was so terrified. I can honestly say I thought I was going to die. I'm very optimistic and I always look for the bright side and reason but I really in my heart and soul thought I wasn’t going to make it out alive. I actually located the exits, life vests and fire extinguishers. I have flown and when we hit turbulence which NEVER used to bother me I get freaked out. So I don't let it hinder my traveling but I will avoid really small planes at all costs.
I really don’t think you should worry. I don't think they should have been flying that plane in that weather. A bigger plane would have been fine, or even for them to tell us that the flight would be this way.
I'm sorry if I freaked anyone out!![]()
