UGHHH... I absolutely can't stand my church. NO ONE understands why I am getting married here after all of the problems I have had with them. It's just that this was my childhood parish and is my town parish and I always envisioned myself getting married here.
SO... Along with having to pay an excessively large fee, having to endure six weeks of Pre-Cana for two hours each along with a mass, and countless problems with the pastor who is not a very holy man.... I get a letter in the mail today that I have to do some FOCCUS thing for TWO MORE WEEKS!!!!!! I am really starting to go crazy with this place!!! I was told that the FOCCUS would just be a dumb inventory. Now I get the letter that says I have to meet with these random people and talk about my personal life with them on two separate occasions for AT LEAST one hour each time!!! This is ridiculous.... It shouldn't take like 100 preparatory hours in order to get married.
How did everyone else do their FOCCUS? Did you guys have to do it this way as well? I am going crazyyyy

My Fiance and I had to do the Foccus survey thing too. We both took it seperately online and then met at the church to go over the results. We went in they handed us our packet we reviewed together as a couple what we disagreed on and then the facilitator went around to all the couples and chatted for a couple of minutes. I thought before hand it was going to be a complete waste of time but after its all done I can honestly say I am glad we did it. My fiance and I bonded in a different way and it was nice to communicate in a totally different way then what we were used to. All in all...a great experience! =)

You should've went to Holy Name instead No FOCCUS and pre-cana is only 3 2-hour sessions. Our second session is tonight...next week is our last, then we're all done
I am seriously considering switching! Not just for the inconvenient prep sessions... My church gives me the creeps lol

You could be like me and take the FOCCUS test in Feb was told they would call you back in a few weeks and now we are in the beinging of May FH called 4 times and still no answer when we are meeting with the FOCCUS couple I just want to get this done so we can get Pre Cana done ASAP.

Wow... this sounds like a production. We aren't getting married in a Church, so I have no words of wisdom. But I will say good luck with this all!

my focus test was 150 questions, and the deacon met with us privately for about an hour to go over the results 2 weeks later.

we don't have to take the FOCCUS test. if we wait until March of next year we can do pre-cana with the priest who is marrying us. its only an hour at most. i have heard from a friend & from the priest that we only read what they give out, ask a few questions & call it a night.

I totally hear you. I don't Hate my church, I just hate all the rules and processes we have to go through to get married. If the Catholic church wants people to get married in the church, they should make it easier for us.
My mom didn't have pre Cana and her and my father have been together for 40+ years. Its insane, I think its all a scam for them to make $$$
