i'm 1/2 happy 1/2 sad

My soon to be mil went back to sloan today she had small cell lung cancer.

Her tumor shrunk 80% which is fantastic and he said she is doing wonderful.

He also told her that the type of cancer she has never goes away--so she can live 10 years but she'll always have some of the cancer.

I wish I knew whether the dr. was being honest or sugar coating things.

i feel terrible for FH and I think it is all starting to hit me now.

I'm in medical school and can answer an questions you may have about her cancer. FM me if you want. It is true that this kind of cancer is inoperable which means she'll live with it forever...but the fact that it's smaller is great news!

I would hope the Dr is 100% honest

Listen- doctors NEVER sugar coat anything. If anything they give u a worst case senario to not disappoint you.. Like my dad's doctor told us he can live 5-10 years, but later on she said its more like 15-20 years but im telling you 5-10 so that when he lives passt 10 years youll be happy

Im dealing with all sorts of cancer as well with both my parents. FM me anytime to vent or anything

I am praying for your FMIL and FH and Family! I know how hard sickness is in a family!

Im glad to hear that it shrunk and from what I have heard they try and give you the worse case scenario...more for her and your family
