Can I just say I'm mad. I have always wanted a red velvet wedding cake - OK for the past year I've wanted one and my mom is making a big deal about it saying people do not like that and our family will expect a cake with fruit filling. I hate that no offense to the rest of the world that likes it. We meet about the cake tomorrow and I'm also not allowed to have fondant - NOBODY LIKES FONDANT as mom says. Wah wah wah. I want it my way.

Fondant doesn't taste like anything...how can anyone not like it?
Are you going with blackforest?? Ask them if they can do a layer in red velvet and the rest 'to people's liking'. I'm sure they will be accomodating. They were with us!!

its your wedding and you and fh day, if you want red velvet cake w/ fondant then go for it
who cares what everyone else wants, tell them if they want to fork the bill then you will take there thoughts into consideration

what do you mean you're not allowed? everyone has opinions and i listened to them but in the end i did whatever i wanted, i wasnt going to NOT do something i really want just bc somebody told me not to. In the end it was my wedding, my ideas and likes and whatever i liked i stuck to it. People can always share opinions with you but doesnt mean you have to follow it.

Yes, we're using Black Forest. Ann, who I spoke to was so cute, she felt for me. She goes, 'No offense, it's your wedding.' Ha ha! I may have to just go with the two top tiers red velvet. I'm going to pose another cake question to the girls in a sep. post.

exactly its YOUR wedding. Honestly, i didnt even stress when others told me their opinions, most stayed out of it and didnt tell me their opinions bc they knew i am gonna go with what i want. But when they had something to say i just listened and was like 'ok thats nice' and then when making a decision i didnt even think about what they had to say if i didnt like it. Also next time JUST go and make the decision, dont ask your mom if you know she is going to do this, you just tell her after what you decided on.

I say you have what YOU want...it's not your mother's wedding it's your's.
Personally i hate fondant (tastes like sugared playdough to me) but it's what you like...not what i like!!!
Get the redvelvet cake with fondnat....or if you want to comrpomise (though i don't think you should) red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting which usually goes with red velvet.
again it's your wedding!!!!

i totally understand wanting to please your guests, but in the end it's YOUR wedding. When else are you getting this chance to have a day specifically geared toward YOU & FH. Have the cake you want and anything else. They'll get over it

I had a red velvet cake- people were LINED up for it. So many people were excited when I told them that our cake was going to be red velvet.
its your wedding...if you want red velvet, then do it!

FH and I both wanted chocolate cake - my grandmother hates chocolate and said that most people wouldn't want it. A lot of people kept telling us how it isn't traditional. We had our chocolate cake and everyone raved about it. Do what you want!
