I havent had any bread, pasta, or rice in over 1 month and I feel great without it. Once you finally decide that you arent going to eat the bad carbs, you will lose the cravings for those foods.
I am on Atkins, and I did Induction for the first 14 days of the plan. After a few days I lost the desire to eat 'The bad Carbs', and also sugar. I gave up salt, sugar, and the bad carbs. I still eat some carbs but they are in the form of Vegetables.
Try not to think about it so much. It is not like you will never eat these foods ever again. You are just not eating them now. There are many foods that you can eat that will fill you up and not make you feel bloated after eating them, the way carbs do. Scott

I am.... so bad.... it's funny because everytime I do Atkins (boy does it work) and then I get off of it, my carb addiction comes back with a vengeance!!
I am also a dairy lover! And chocolate obsessed! Man, I've got problems....

I have a lot of respect for people who have the tolerance for Atkins. But how long are you supposed to stay on it? It's not a way to eat for the rest of your life, in my opinion.

Atkins is a way of life, just like WW or other low fat food plans.
As you progress through your weight loss journey you determine what your carb limit is. His diet promotes excersise, high fiber veggies & fruit.
And there are tons of Atkins & Carb solution products on the market today to make this diet livable for the long term. Besides, I don't think anyone would die if they didn't have a slice of bread for the rest of their life.

I will stay on it until the wedding and then I will go back to eating regular, except I will eat whole wheat foods instead of white floured foods. I will eat good carbs, veggies, chicken, fish, salad etc.

Re: I'm a carb addict....UGH! Who's with me!
I was a an Atkins failure. Mainly b/c I simply don't like red meat, I hate fish, and eating chicken nonstop bugged me too! LOL
With my limited range of choices, my diet would consist of NOTHING if I went no carb. As I said , I tried Atkins and I was miserable (I never adjusted to missing the carbs at ALL!! I missed them EVERY SINGLE DAY)
Ever since I began my pre-wedding diet in earnest (LOL) I've cut out bread, cakes, all sorts of goodies, etc. But I eat small portions of pasta and rice, usually at lunchtime. For me I just do 100x better just counting my calories and exercising .. it takes longer to lose than Atkins, but for me its well worth it

Sometimes you just gotta stick with what works for you. Atkins or low carb isnt for everyone.
