exactly what embossing powder is. To emboss something is to create a raised imprint on paper, right? (I told you I was a retard!) Will this powder make it look prettier?

it does look pretty- the powder needs to be melted with a heat gun.

Re: I'm A Retard . . .please explain . . .
I am feeling better by the minute! A lot of misinformed brides here!
This is what I think I may do . . .I'm making my own programs and I am using some pretty heavy card stock for the program cover. Since I'm having an evening wedding where my colors are black and silver, the cover will be black and I'll add a silver ribbon. I wanted to try to emboss our initals on the cover and add silver embossing powder to make it stand out.
But I gotta use heat?

I have a glue gun and I want to use it for something but FI wont let me. He's afraid I'll glue my fingers together.
So clueless here on anything creative
Try FMing Sonicstef. She is a creative genius she may be a good source for this...

Re: I'm A Retard . . .please explain . . .
I sent her an FM asking her about something so maybe if you FM her she'll be helpful.
I asked her about the bridesmaids newsletter and gave her my personal email address so though she isnt sharing publically maybe she'll share privatly.
Its worth a shot....
But if she tries to shoot you with a glue gun, throw some embross powder at her

They sell embossing powder in different colors at michaels. You can use a rubber stamp and ink, and sprinkle the powder on top. The powder sticks to the ink. Then you melt it with a heat gun, and it runs together to make that raised shiny look. They have books I am sure!

Although using a heating gun is much easier you don't have to use one . . you can use an iron. . . have the iron sit up and hold the paper in front of the metal part . . . you have to be very careful not to burn the paper or yourself
edit because it's late and I can't spell

Embossing powder is used to enhance stamp projects. To use it, first stamp the design you want, then while the ink is still wet, you sprinkle the powder over the design. Shake off the excess powder, and heat with a hair dryer, a light bulb, or a heat gun. It's really pretty, but a little time consuming if you're doing a lot of something, ie: invitations, or programs.
Btw, I don't think the SonicStef comment Uhhhhh . . .SonicSteph? She's not sharing anymore. Remember? She might try to shoot me with the glue gun! was really necessary. She's helped a lot of us in the past, and it's comments like this that made her stop sharing.
