Im angry!

I was out of work yesterday because I went to FH's uncle's funeral. FH's best friends wife is working with a recruiter in my office and came in yesterday. She asked for me and my boss told her I was at a funeral, but I probably made that up just to have the day off! I think that is so wrong and disrespectful!!!!! She said he sounded like he was kind of joking, but maybe he really thought that...

Im so angry!!!!!!!! I would never make that up!

It's one thing if you called in sick and he joked about you maybe playing hooky. But to say it when you told him you had a funeral to go to...that's just wrong. Plus he shouldn't be telling your business to anyone!

When FH's father passed away his boss at the time implied that he was lying and went on to threaten him to never lie to her again.

He got human resources involved and she almost got fired. If your job has an HR department they need to be informed. Whether your boss was joking or not this issue needs to be addressed,

Yea I would be mad!! Say something to him! i would tell him you heard what he said and you just want to set the record straight that you would never ever joke about something that serious!

I agree with everyone! Horrible and rude! This makes me want to start a complaining about work thread. I broke plans to work a shift for someone I work with who said her daughter was having surgery. I found out last night from another co-worker while I was covering that shift that the woman who had asked me to work found out days ago that her daughter was not going to have the surgery. When asked if she was going to tell me since I had plans and might want to switch back, she replied, 'Nah, I could use the night off. I'll rent a couple movies.' How inconsiderate! And of course I am sick right now and have to work with her tomorrow morning!
