I'm annoyed

I'm annoyed

So we knew going into this alot of FH's family wasn't going to come to the wedding, since they think it's 'so far away'. Keep in mind they can drive 3 hrs to atlantic city once a month and blow a few hundred, but to drive and hr and 15-30 minutes for one night is alot to ask. But that's besides the point.
Now here's why I'm annoyed:
1. 3 of FH's cousins respond no. Ok fine. At least put a little note, or Sorry we're missing it or congratulations or something. NOTHING.
2. One of the cousin's, in the last 2 years I have been to her bridal shower (spent $100). Her wedding ($300) which took us 1.5 to an hr and 45 min to get to in the city with traffic, and were BORED and there was no real cocktail hr. Then there was the baby shower ($100) and christening (in a blackout) ($100). And not even a congrats in the rsvp. Oh she did send a $50 shower gift. Oh, they're not hard up for $$ either. They're both lawyers and live in a huge apt in NYC.
3. FH's other cousin said no, no note or anything. We've been to three parties for her in the last 2 yrs. The last one being her husbands bday party which she wrote his thank you card for.

It's not the about the money. It's about the fact that I go out of my way to make it to these parties and events and buy nice presents and nice cards, and they can't even write congrats on the card? And seriously, it's not that frigging far away. They act like its another country. Its LONG ISLAND.

Thank you if anyone is still reading.

We didn't get any notes on our 'no' rsvp's either. I think people just don't think to do it.

nah, they do. the no's i rcvd.. 1 wrote a long letter (justified)

the other was fhs super close friend. his mommmmy wrote a fake excuse as to why he couldnt go.. (35 yr old 'man' ) lol

dont go out of your way for them. fk them.

turn this into something positive... invite more of YOUR friends since theres a bunch of openings.

That is annoying. It almost makes you want to call them out on it.

But like someone said, just turn it in to a positive -- invite more of your friends and write them off!!

Thanks, I am definitely turning it into a positive. whether I invite more friends, or just have to pay less $$ it works out in my favor. Also, one of the cousin's who said no is fighting with her sister, and I know the sister is coming, so now I don't have to worry about where to sit them.
I think what really bothered me was that I go out of my way for these people, because I know they are so touchy about things, and I don't even get acknowlegded.
But now I know how things go in this family. So no more going out of my way. Much easier for me!
