I'm back from Furniture Land South! and here's my REVIEW!
For those of you who don't know, Furniture Land South is the largest furniture store in the WORLD. This place was so huge I can't even describe it. It was floors and floors of all different types of furniture that you can image from the middle to high end types of furniture. It's in High Point North Carolina which is aka 'the furniture capital of the US' It's a whole town filled with furniture stores and factories.
To go to this place, you need a full 2 days. This place is COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY worth the money for the trip down there. Our flight tix were $139 RT to Winston-Salem and the hotels down there are under $100 a night.
So we got down there on Friday and we worked with a consultant/ sales rep. Her name was Tona Honeycutt Ledlum. She was recommended to us by a friend and is just simply incredible. I gave her a brief description of my tastes, and she read me immediately. We were looking for a bedroom set, dining set, and living room set. She knew right away where to go and what to show us, navigating through this monstrosity of a building. Our jaws DROPPED when we saw the prices. Everything there is discounted by 50%!!!!! We did all of our looking on Friday, and on Saturday we went back to do the buying and fabric picking. It is definitely a 2-day process. So if you go, stay the 2 days. The place is just SOOO big, you need it!
But back to the prices, we just couln't get over them! For instance, we did alot of pricing before we left for NC. We went to Ethan Allen, Huffman Koos, Seamans, Levitts and The Place.
I fell in love with a bedroom set in Ethan Allen. We saw the exact same make, model and color in FLS for $1,300 cheaper!!!!! and we got 2 more pieces with FLS than included in the EA price!! So right there the money spent on plane tix, hotel and car rental was justified! Another ex- We also bought our mattress for $799, and in Sleepys in NY it was $1,600!!! In total we saved $7,000 EASY by buying our furniture down there.
You do not pay tax, since NC doesn't have it, but you do pay for shipping which is based on weight. Still worth it though.
We are just so pleased with the attention and patience of Tona, our consultant. I HIGHLY recommend her. She is just a doll. She knows her stuff!!! She worked with the budget we gave her, made everything so easy for us, and she made it a good time!
Girls, I'm telling you- if you have the chance--GO!!
