I'm back from my cruise! Here's a review for princess99 (and some pics)
DH and I just got back from our 1 year anniversary cruise this Saturday. We did a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Princess cruise line (Caribbean Princess).
I had been putting off going on a cruise for years because it just seemed pointless to me to sit on a boat for days, when instead you can just fly and get to your destination much faster. I also didn't like the idea of only getting to spend one day at each port.
But DH has always wanted to do a cruise, and it's pretty affordable, so I decided to give it a shot. Well, I'm glad I finally caved because it was awesome! I totally didn't mind being at sea for 2 days before we got to St. Thomas. There's so much to do on the ship - it's HUGE! We were totally amazed by it.
And can I tell you I feel like a beached whale after eating about 3 times my body weight in food
But man, was it good! The first night they had unlimited lobster claws, king crab legs, and shrimp cocktail. We ate at one of the 2 buffets most of the time because it was just more convenient (and you can wear t-shirts and shorts) but we also ate in the dining room a few times. They have 2 specialty restaurants as well that we tried out; one was Italian, the other was a steak house. Phenomenal!
The best part is that you can order as much food as you want. DH would order 2 shrimp cocktails, 2 entrees, 2 desserts...
The entertainment was just eh; but we didn't care. I was perfectly happy relaxing on our balcony at night, looking up at the stars and listening to the sound of the water hitting the side of the boat. I just couldn't get enough of that.
The 'Movies Under the Stars' is awesome; they have a HUGE flat screen tv on the top deck by the pool and they play movies during the day and at night too. They cover the lounge chairs with these comfy cushiony covers with built in pillow, and they give you a blanket too. It was so nice sitting on the deck at night in the open air, watching a movie.
The average age of the cruisers was middle-age though, so this wasn't a party boat at all. But DH and I didn't mind.
Our other ports besides St. Thomas were St. Maarten and Princess Cays (a privately owned island near the Bahamas).
Everything about the cruise was fantastic; we actually had a much better time on the cruise than on our honeymoon!
If anybody has any questions, just ask.....
