You are very close, especially with the kids. Does the number count you and FH? Vendors?

Talk to your hall and see what they say, maybe they'll throw something in... Between the vendors and kids, even if you are paying 1/2 price for all of them, you get really close to 175...

we get to count ourselves? sorry im so dumb

Yes, I didn't know that either until this site.

So, between you two, and paying full price for the kids, you'll be right at the minimum.

Yes you should just reach your min!

wat does the hall do?? i have the same problem

Sometimes they will throw in extra food at CH, viennese hour, chair covers. You just have to ask!

I'm only at 180 (including vendors) and I guarenteed 200. Giorigo's is telling me they will pack up the food and that's it. What the hell am I going to do with 20 full meals going to a freakin' hotel???? They were no interested in negotiating - none of any type. I am extremely unhappy about this among other things that will be put in my review.

I'm not asking for a refund just what any other hall would do...upgrade you somewhere else.

I am surprised to hear that you are unhappy with Giorgio's. But I think maybe the problem is that they don't offer a ton of extras b/c the main package is so loaded with stuff (like I don't believe they have chair covers, etc)

The boxed up our extra dinners too, but we only had two, people picked at them at our little afterparty at the hotel.

You can donate those dinners to Meals on Wheels.

I think donating the meals is a WONDERFUL idea

i was about 20 below my minimum and the hall worked with me to make up the difference. i was actually happy to be under because they threw in the chair covers, a cordial/espresso bar and mini viennese (i had the best BM). the but it was only because i was off by so many. they said if it was a few people like 4 or 5 there wasnt much that they could do. you're not that far off so i dont think they'll throw anything in for you. but it never hurts to ask!!! maybe they'll wrap up the extra plates for you.

I was about 20 under my minimum as well and Jericho Terrace threw in chair covers with bows, wine on the tables, a cordial bar and upgraded the beer...

My mom said that if they didn't throw anything in (before we went in for the final appointment) that she was going to make them wrap up 20 meals and that she and my dad would just eat filet mignon for a month.

I was actually so happy to be that far under the minimum like Alnem said because we got so many extras.

Think of it this way: At least you're not over the minimum so you don't have to pay any extra, right?

I think donating them is a good idea, but it still seems ridiculous to me that the hall won't work with them at all on upgrades even though they're so far under the minimum. As many issues I had with Jericho Terrace, they still win points in my book for throwing in so much when I was already getting a lot to begin with.

Some advice about getting the extras:
Figure out exactly how much you are paying for guests that aren't there. Include any 'service charges' because that's pure profit for the hall. Then figure out comparably priced upgrades. For instance, if you're paying $5,000 for people who aren't there, tell them you want the chair covers for $1,000, vienniese hour for $2,000, and seafood bar for $2,000...or whatever it is that you want. Even if they give you half of that, you're ahead.

My logic was this: If I'm paying for 20 people that aren't there, that's not just 20 meals...That's 20 people worth of cocktail hour food, 20 people worth of salad, pasta course, whatever other courses you have, 20 people worth of open bar, 20 people worth of dessert/cake, AND 20 people worth of wait staff that they don't need to pay!

I'd tell Giorgios that in addition to the 20 meals, you feel that you are entitled to 20 desserts, 20 plates of cocktail hour food, 20 salads, etc...I'd also demand that they give you 100 drinks/beers to take with you since the open bar is factored into the cost of those 20 people that don't exist.

Bottom line: They're ripping you off, but they have a right to do it because it's in the 'contract'. They can probably argue that they don't even give you the meals. I would, however, let them know that you intend to post all of this information in your review along with a list of other halls that are known to work with brides under their minimum...That might make them a little more accomodating...

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I don't think that they are 'ripping' anyone off. A contract is a contract and if you guarntee something in a contract you need to be held to it too!

It many not be the popular opinion AND it may be the 'nice' thing to do for the bride, but they don't have to do anything. Of course it would nice, and it would make the poor bride's life a lot easier, but people have to realize that when you sign a contract, it IS binding!
