I'm bored - -so let's talk about this whole baseball/steroid thing

I'm probably a little all over the place on this one.

1. Why on earth are they using steroids???? Not Cool. My Donnie didn't, neither did My Paulie, or LIW's Tino (I'll share him). I do NOT approve of steroids, and Giambi can kiss mine.

2. Doesn't Congress have anything better to do? Aren't we at war? Aren't there people without jobs? What about this so-called 'National Terror Threat'? I could go on for days. But no, we're calling a bunch of athletes on the carpet for using drugs.

So in conclusion:
Drugs = Not Cool
Congress spending time on this = Not Cool.

but i have to ask because i am a cynic - -how do you know the guys you mentioned never used them?

I thik it is a shame...but i don't see it going anywhere and this all being a waste of time unless there are random drug testing of players...which i think should be done!

Aren't you one of the people who say you can tell by looking? Those guys were never BUILT, you know?

But how do we know ANYONE didn't use them? There's no way. No matter who did or didn't, it's still Not Cool.

if they are that concerned, why cant they test everyone a few time each season...if people 'really' arent using them, they wont object..

but they are always comming out with these new and improved 'vitamines '

I am not a huge baseball fan, but it makes me sad to think of how they made such a BIG darn deal of the records of Canseco, and the whole rivalry between McGuire and Sosa in the day when all along they were using steroids. The announcers made such a big deal about how they were beating the all time records of the old timers, some of which I doubt were using steroids. It has tarnished the whole game for me, JMO.

I completely agree, Rachel. I also agree with those who say there should be random drug testing.

Maybe I was a bit naive before all of this came to light, but all this talk of steroids has really discouraged me as a baseball fan...just another thing to add to the list.

I have a very good friend who used to date a pro b-ball player...and it is VERY common, unfortunately! I remember going down to FLA for spring training and seeing for myself some of the cr@p that goes on with the 'PROFESSIONAL' athletes. Granted, not ALL of them do it, but it is very common. JMO

All athelets should be tested period! drugs are not cool…It’s a shame how teenagers are doing steroids because they want to be like these players and are dying from them. I don’t think congress should ignore the issue, I do understand that there are so many other bigger issues but still this has be addressed too, especially when young kids who idolize these athelets are doing what they are and are dying.

Do you mean like that 'rumour' that there was weed in (gasp) the Mets clubhouse at some point in the recent past??
