Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were married Sunday on a private tropical island in Fiji, PEOPLE has confirmed exclusively.

The non-denominational ceremony was attended only by the bride and groom, both barefoot and wearing white.

'We didn't want to wait another day to get married,' Spelling tells PEOPLE.

Adds her new husband, 'I've never had as much of a desire to get married and make a woman my wife as I've had with her. The feeling is overwhelming. We're soul mates.'

Spelling, 32, and McDermott, 39, met last summer in Ottawa while filming the TV movie Mind Over Murder. At the time, she was wed to actor-writer Charlie Shanian, and McDermott was married to his wife of 12 years, Mary Jo Eustace.

'It just happened,' a Spelling friend told PEOPLE about their romance. 'No one meant any harm to anyone. You can't help who you fall in love with and who you're right with.'

In September, Spelling announced her split from Shanian, and McDermott filed for divorce from Eustace. Spelling's divorce became final last month.

McDermott proposed to the So NoTORIous star on Christmas Eve in Toronto, Canada. His sister put out lights leading to a table for two surrounded by decorated Christmas trees. The couple rode up in a horse-drawn carriage, and McDermott presented Spelling with a diamond and sapphire ring.

'It was so magical. All the stars aligned. I have never been happier in my life,' McDermott told PEOPLE at the time.

McDermott has since shown his love for Spelling with tattoos, including one on his wrist that reads 'Truly, Madly, Deeply, Tori' and another on his shoulder: a portrait of her.

GAYLE'S RISING STAR IN 'VIEW'

May 8, 2006 -- 'THE View' is going from talk show to soap opera.
Reports began circulating over the weekend that Oprah Winfrey's best friend, Gayle King, may be in line to take over Star Jones' chair on the morning coffee klatch.

King - a former TV newswoman and currently editorial director of Oprah's monthly O magazine - has been a regular presence on Oprah's afternoon show for many years. In fact, she even had her own talk for a short time in 1997.

First reports that King was a candidate to join 'The View' were posted on Foxnews.com

Star Jones' contract with 'The View' ends this summer and there has been much speculation that she won't be back next fall when the show starts its new season.

Jones, a former Brooklyn prosecutor, has been battling with co-host Joy Behar on-air in recent months and rubbed Barbara Walters the wrong way last year when it became known that parts of her lavish wedding reception were paid for by sponsors in exchange for on-air plugs.

Publicly, the show is saying that Star is 'welcome' to stay on 'The View,' but TV insiders confirmed late last week that her agents are quietly shopping around for a new job for her.

Oprah, coincidentally, is set to make her first guest appearance on 'The View' Friday. She is promoting an ABC special due to air next week.

'MISSION: Impossible III' star Tom Cruise reportedly got Katie Holmes to ink a $52 million pre-nup. The new parents spent weeks hashing out the details of the agreement, in which a $19 million trust has been set up for Katie and her baby regardless of whether the couple wed, London's Daily Mail claims. But if they do marry and later divorce, Holmes will receive an extra $33.5 million.

Jessica looks much better blond!! And what is up with Katie's bra? And why isn't the front attached?

Katie's wearing a nursing bra to prove to all of us that she really gave birth, I guess.

Christina Aguilera was among the many guests at another baby shower for Gwen Stefani in Los Angeles over the weekend. In addition to a gift for the little tot, we're sure Xtina brought some red lipstick for the mom!
