I'm concerned....

I was reading some posts about STD... Do you have to have blocked rooms first? I don't think I afford that before I do the STD...Or should I wait until I can afford both? HELP!!!

Most places don't make you pay to block rooms.Your guests can reserve a room with a credit card without paying until they check in. I used Courtyard Marriot and this is how it worked. We told them how many rooms we may need and they said if we book 10, we get a free shuttle services if we book 15, we get a free room. HTH

just make sure the hotel you book w/ doesn't make you guarantee a minimum amount of rooms blocked, otherwise you may be responsible for those that don't book up. thats part of the reason why FH and I didn't block rooms at a hotel near our RH, they require you to fill at least 70% and we weren't sure about who would book rooms or not.

No i sent mine out before i did the room block -

FYI - usually the hotel will reserve a certain amount of rooms (in our case 10) without having to leave any sort of deposit...

yep same here.
we do have a website and we created a section for the hotel accommodation needs. we gonna block 10 rooms initially and see if we have feedback for that much or more on our website. I thought this would be easier than guesstamating before the STD's
as others said make sure ur not required to cover the blocked rooms that dont get used by ur guests, some hotels ask for that

I called over five hotels about our room block and none of them asked for any money - this has been the only free thing so far

We sent out our STDs....we're going to send a packet to the OOTs with hotel info once we get it all together and the rest of our guests will get it in the invitation.

Yup, as the other ladies said, no money needed for hotel blocks Nothing gets charged until check-out

No charge for the block and I did it almost 2 years out. Figured if it wasn't gonna cost me I might as well do it now.
